Job Purpose: To provide technical assistance to project team and imparting trainings to 75 beneficiaries regarding Mushroom cultivation, quality control, processing and all related key generic steps.

As a Technical expert (Mushroom), duties include:

  • To facilitate and provide technical guidance to project team for efficient & effective implementation of mushroom production – a cycle that takes between one to three months from start to finish.
  • To provide technical knowledge and support in selection and setting up training venues, Establishment of model Mushroom cultivation labs and product processing units.
  • To provide technical knowledge and support in Identification and Selection of 75 progressive farmers.
  • To facilitate project team in formation of Beneficiaries Business Groups (BG).
  • To provide training content, pre & post-tests, schedules for 4 days field trainings.
  • Conduct pre & post assessment to gauge relevant knowledge, skill and attitude of beneficiaries. And subsequently share reports.
  • Provide theoretical and practical trainings to farmers on mushroom farming and subsequent steps.
  • Conduct training sessions on Pest and Disease Management
  • Facilitate and accompany farmers for inter-regional exposure visits to model Mushroom cultivation labs.
  • Facilitate Training Manager and M & E in training evaluation process.
  • Technically lead, guide and ensure smooth production process flow from cultivation to fruiting and marketing stage.
  • Technically guide and facilitate concerned team members for Establishment of Quality Assurance & Processing Unit.
  • To coordinate with project team & continuously support to farmers to provide support for improve quality of mushroom.
  • Technically guide and facilitate farmers for packaging, storage and market supply considering perishable nature of the product.
  • To ensure alignment of production cycle and storage duration with timelines of value chain.
  • Submit training report for each batch and a final training report.
  • Any other related activity assigned.

Competency Requirements

  • Minimum B. Sc (Hons) degree in Agriculture with at least three years of practical experience of mushroom cultivation, processing and marketing.
  • At least three years experience of project implementation, setting up of training venues, establishment of model Mushroom cultivation labs and product processing units.
