Chemonics International seeks an Grants Intern for the Challenge Fund for its USAID Small and Medium Enterprises Activity (SMEA).  SMEA is a 5-year, $35 million project that is aimed at improvement of financial and operating performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan in selected high-performing industrial, manufacturing and services sectors. Through Challenge Fund grants program, SMEA will support the creation and diffusion of innovative, sustainable, and scalable business solutions to the competitiveness challenges facing Pakistani SMEs.

The Grants Intern will report directly to the Grants Specialist and be responsible for assisting in designing and executing rounds of the challenge fund based on themes as approved by the project work plan. The Grant Intern’s responsibilities will range from providing support in managing solicitation phase, grant archives and support grants specialists in management of grants cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Grants Specialist in responding to the solicitation queries, and upholding logs for RFA.
  • Work with Grants team to maintain the grants files for both soft and hard archives.
  • Provide support in managing the grants management tracker.
  • Contribute to the coordination and validation of challenge fund technical review results.
  • Support grants team in grants data entry for the online M&E database.
  • Work with the grants team for operations and compliance, to adapt Chemonics’ comprehensive grants manual to the Fund, assist Grants Specialist in establishing a USAID compliant grants database, grants solicitation, award, monitoring, and closeout.

 Qualifications:

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Studies or related field.
  • Ability to perform successfully as a member of multiple project-related teams
  • Excellent communications and writing ability in English;
  • Computer literacy skills required in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, web browsers, and email

Duration of the Assignment: This will be a 3-month internship position starting in mid-December 2018.

Duty Post: The individual will be based in Islamabad and will be working closely with the CF team.
