Organisation background

The Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners - Legal Aid Office (CWP-LAO) is a not for profit government founded committee notified by the Home Department of the Government of Sindh in 2004 and operates under the chairpersonship of Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid (Former Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan). CWP-LAO works with 21 prisons across Sindh on providing legal aid and awareness, working towards rehabilitation of prisoners and for the welfare of vulnerable prisoners.

Details of Vacancy
CWP-LAO seeks to appoint a full-time Programme Officer for the CWP-LAO. The programme officer will support the programme team in the coordination and implementation of programmes and projects in prisons across Sindh.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and organize various events and trainings;
• Conducting advocacy and lobbying meetings with district level stakeholders;
• Writing events and activities Reports;
• Monitoring of all field activities;
• Collecting & Tabulated of all the statistical data for all program activities;
• Planning , supervising and monitoring the implementation of various activities;
• Assisting in the planning and programming of projects to persons of concern;
• Assist in monitoring compliance to the organization’s resource allocation framework, providing support and indicating the corrective actions where required and drawing attention of the program manager towards these areas.
• Conducting and assisting in relevant research projects;
• Implementing and monitoring the delivery of the media strategy and plan;
• Coordination and networking with Implementing Partners and other NGOs, CSO, and CBOs;
• Assisting in Coordination and Communication with litigation team to ensure timely achievement of activities.
• Planning, Conducting and Assisting in relevant research projects;
• Maintaining official records and documents undertaking field visits to evaluate and improve the planning, programming, implementation and monitoring of assistance projects;
• Perform any other official task assigned by the Senior Programme Officers, Program Manager and Associate Director.

Person Profile

Education & qualifications Candidates should have a strong educational background in
a related subject e.g. social work, psychology, law, sociology, criminology or public policy.

Candidate must have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in one of these disciplines.

Candidate must have at least 2 years work experience.
Specialist knowledge &
Skills Proficient in MS Word
Proficient with spreadsheet programmes.
Excellent IT skills.
Proficiency with SPSS or other data management systems is desirable.
Interpersonal &
communication skills Well-developed interpersonal/communication skills and strong organisational skills are essential.
Methodical but efficient and flexible approach to work.
Relevant experience Has had experience in management of programmes and programme activities.
Experience in research related to the mission of CWP-LAO is desirable.

Hours of work Full time employment 9am -5pm (alternate Saturdays off)

Length of appointment 14th September, 2018 to 30 June, 2019 with the possibility of extension.
