Programme Overview:
Chemonics International Inc. seeks an experienced professional to undertake the role of the Team Leader for an anticipated DFID-funded, Pakistan Delivering Accelerated Family Planning Service Delivery (DAFPAK SD) programme. The £17m UK Government Department for International Development (DFID) Programme seeks to deliver effective family planning throughout Pakistan which currently has high numbers of unintended pregnancies and maternal deaths. The main objective of this program will be to strengthen the quality of public service provision through: training government health and family planning facility staff on integration of services, improving clinical quality, expanding the range of contraceptives offered, finding ways to offer client centred counselling, and establish new procedures in health facilities to better integrate family planning services with current services offered.
Job Description and Qualifications:
The Team Leader will provide leadership to the overall DAFPAK SD team and will require working closely the Government of Pakistan, province and district representatives, Ministry of Population and Ministry of Health representatives, other DAFPAK Component Teams, and other key stakeholders across the health and family planning sector to provide technical support as needed. The Team leader must be mission-driven and committed to making a distinctive impact serving the DAFPAK team and Chemonics International. This position is contingent upon funding.
- At least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in family planning, service delivery, and health
- Experience working with or in public health clinics is preferred
- Experience managing donor-funded programmes and experience managing DFID-funded programmes are particularly relevant
- Advanced knowledge of institutional challenges in the public sector and how to deliver desired and lasting improvements in public service delivery
- Ability to provide responsive and proactive technical assistance to strengthen health systems
- Ability to build strong and effective partnerships and working relationships with the United Nations (UN) and civil society partners
- Ability to work on socially sensitive challenges within the Pakistani context
- Ability to foster successful partnership approaches and relationships among a range of stakeholders, including programme partners, donors, private sector organisations, NGOs and government departments
- Excellent communication skills including presentation, facilitation and report writing skills – samples of written work may be requested
- Work experience across Pakistan is preferred
- Excellent written and spoken English
