Term of References for Developing Academic Course of Gender Issues with Gender Transformative Approaches (GTA) Included

 

1. Background

Pakistan is the sixth most populous country in the world, with an estimated population of 196,174,380[1]. This large population is predominantly young with 55% of the population under 25 years of age,[2]with a high annual growth rate of 2.1%. Pakistan Demographic and Heath Survey, 2012-13, shows that 32% of the ever-married women age 15-49 have experienced physical violence at least once since age 15 and 19% experienced physical violence within the 12 months prior to survey. Overall 39% of ever married women age 15-49 report ever having experienced physical and/or emotional violence from their spouse and 33% report having experienced it in the past 12 months. Among ever-married women who have experienced spousal physical violence in the past 12 months, 35% reported experiencing physical injuries. Moreover one in 10 women reported experiencing violence during pregnancy.[3]

GTA is now days considered an effective strategy to develop a gender just society. In this regard we seeks to integrate the Gender Transformative Approach to academic curriculum of Gender Issues. 

2. Brief Overview of the Programme: 

The long term objective of Prevention+ is to contribute to a gender just society, free of GBV, by transforming harmful social norms by engaging (young) men, transforming harmful social norms driving GBV at the individual/ relationship, community, and civil society level 

3. Purpose of the Assignment:

The purpose of the assignment is to carry out a reviewof existing postgraduate level gender issues courses and Develop a new Course with GTA related concepts integrated in to it.

 

3. ) Overall summary of the assignment:

The consultant is expected to review existing academic course of Gender Issues and develop content by incorporating the GTA and related information in to it. 

 

4.    Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of Advisor Programmes, the Consultant will produce the following:

a)    Develop and share work plan in consultation with the organization

b)   Desk Review of the materials and academic discourse on the GTA

c)    Review an existing gender issues curriculum and develop its revised content by integrating GTA in to it.

d)   Share the content and finalise the curriculum in light of the feedback by the programme team

e)   Submit a report based on the process including a hard copy of the developed curriculum

 

5.  Requested Documents

The proposal must be supported with following documents:

a)Cover letter

b)Technical proposal including methodology and proposed timelines

c)profile of the individual consultant/ CV

d)Financial proposal including (break down of consultancy fee)

 

6.  Deliverables:

  1. A complete report on the consultancy
  2. Complete curriculum of the course in Hard and Soft form
 

7.  The consultant applying for this assignment must have:

Essentials of the Consultant 

  • Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, International Development or related field
  • At least 10 years’ experience in academic curriculum development 
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory 
  • Content editing skills and formatting skills are the must for producing presentable deliverable

  

Duration of Consultancy: 1 month 

Deadline for the Submission of Proposal: 25thJune 2018.
