Chemonics International is implementing USAID Small and Medium Enterprise Activity (SMEA), which is a 5-year, $35 million project that is aimed at improvement of financial and operating performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan in selected high-performing industrial, manufacturing and services sectors.

The USAID Small and Medium Enterprise Activity (SMEA) requires the services of trainers/consultants to conduct training sessions for women entrepreneurs on:

  • Business growth planning and management (including expansion strategy, marketing, customer relationship management, supply consistency, inventory management, logistics and transportation or any other)
  • Accounting for small businesses (including book keeping, financial statements development, taxation, registration, financial readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with SMEA, Competitiveness Enhancement Lead and other team members to understand the specific requirements of the scope of work and the project as a whole
  • Study and understand the project background, approach and objectives and review other relevant studies/ material
  • Meet relevant industry contacts such as Chambers of Commerce or Incubation Centers and SMEs to understand the needs of the women-owned businesses.
  • Develop/ customize training modules as per women entrepreneurs’ needs, and share with SMEA team to solicit feedback and get approval. The trainer may suggest handouts, brochures or handbooks (as required).
  • The trainer for Module 1 conducts a one- to two-day training session each in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
  • The trainer for Module 2 conducts a one- to two-day training session each in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.

Person Specifications

 

Trainer for Module 1

  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in business management
  • Experience in conducting trainings for women owned businesses
  • Awareness of recent trends and changes in marketing and other business practices
  • Previous experience of working with USAID projects or other donors in economic growth will be preferred
  • Experience of working with donor projects in the SME space will be preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills

Trainer for Module 2

  • Master’s degree in accounting or related field
  •  At least 5 years of experience in accounting, finance and taxation
  • Experience in conducting trainings for women owned businesses
  • Good understanding of the policy and regulation constraints faced by the SMEs at the federal and provincial levels
  • Awareness of recent trends and changes in regulation
  • Command of free or low-cost accounting solutions
  • Hands-on experience of dealing with FBR offices
  • Previous experience of working with USAID projects in economic growth will be preferred
  • Experience of working with donor projects in the SME space will be preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills

Assignment and Duty Post:

Consultant should be available to work with the SMEA team out of SMEA’s Islamabad office and will be required to conduct other meetings and trainings in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. The costs of travelling and accommodation will be paid according to the standard Chemonics policy.
