1.   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quality assurance of peacebuilding projects through monitoring and follow-up on project implementation plans including media monitoring and coordination of advocacy initiatives
  • Capacity building of implementing partners on project management and peacebuilding
  • Project management support in online financial management Maconomy Portal
  • Provide strategic advice on programme innovation to further enhance profile of organization’s peacebuilding programme in Pakistan.
  • Provide technical advice to Programme Manager in programme planning, implementation, quality assurance, programme/project budget management, partners’ management and evaluations in line with organization’s country and global policies/strategic plans
  • Develop new programme concepts in coordination with Programme Coordinator to secure cooperation and support from external funding partners.
  • Strengthen coordination among partners and bridge communication gap between partners and organizational management

2.   MAIN TASKS

  • Assist in development and implementation of peacebuilding strategy
  • Strengthen networking and coordination with relevant local structures, CSOs, INGOs and Government Departments involved in peacebuilding interventions, including relationship building with religious leaders of diverse faiths
  • Contribute in fundraising through preparation of quality applications/proposals, reports for submission to international funding partners and head office.
  • Assess and review new partner proposals and finalize partner agreements
  • Facilitate local partners in conducting needs assessment/baseline and implementation of planned peacebuilding project interventions and measure its effectiveness and relevance in target communities in accordance with country strategic results framework
  • Contribute in identification of areas and strategies for needed modifications in existing project plans to improve partners’ performance.
  • Assist in risk assessment and mitigation in peacebuilding project interventions and capacity building trainings for partners’ staff in peacebuilding and  conflict sensitivity
  • Contribute in documenting best practices, results and lessons learnt from different projects.
  • Conduct monitoring of peacebuilding projects through frequent field visits to assess the progress of partner projects and provide needed technical support and advice to partners.
  • Support partners in coordinating project-specific advocacy and media initiatives, facilitating the development of joint advocacy and media strategies as need be
  • Prepare periodic reporting on media interventions by peacebuilding partners, including documentation of statistics (on viewership, "likes" in FB, retweets, etc.) and a qualitative analysis of both discourses and public reactions.
  • Engage on advocacy components of peacebuilding projects that may include capacity building support to local partners
  • Learn and use online financial and budget management system i.e. Maconomy for creation of PIDs, allocations, budgeting and transfer of funds to partners
  • Maintain programme filing system and keep the record of the important documentation and communications and upload important documentation on online document archiving system.
  • In close cooperation with the Programme Coordinator and Finance Officer, prepare and submit progress and financial reports according to deadlines and reporting formats provided by back-donors

3.   Qualifications & Experience Required
(Project-, team-, workgroup-leadership/coordination, facilitation, monitoring, relation building etc.)

  • Masters’ degree preferably in Peace studies or social sciences
  • Minimum 8 eight years’ experience of   in  peacebuilding, human rights or other related fields
  • Solid peacebuilding experience and training in conflict transformation and conflict sensitivity.
  • Good understanding of local conflict context, culture, vulnerable groups, and underlying socio-politico-economic situation
  • Experience of developing program strategy, project proposal, and reports
  • Good knowledge of different religions and faith community structures
  • Preferable skills and experience related to working with UN Resolution 1325
  • Good understanding of media and strong linkages with media houses
  • Expertise in documentation of statistics print electronic and social media
  • Knowledge and experience of advocacy campaign on social issues.
  • Experience of developing gender and peacebuilding considerations into M&E processes
  • Ability to relate to and work with senior leaders of all faith communities
  • Physical ability to conduct regular field visits, reporting and project follow up work
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to define priorities
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Urdu and other local languages would be an advantage
  • Willing to work in a team in the Department
  • Comply with organizational Security routines, regulations and SOPs.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor or management.
  • Changes in this job description will take place after discussions between employer and employee, and as a part of the annual PDR follow-up.

4.   Duration of Job:

  • 1 year with possible renewable extension

5.   Feild Travel:

  • Islamabad based job with upto 40% travel to the field
