Project Background

Background:

A national Non-governmental organization is looking individuals for its Donor Funded project TABEER-Consolidating Democracy in Pakistan (CDIP)implementing in District Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Project is working to support the consolidation of democratic processes in Pakistan by strengthening the capacity of the country’s institutions to be more effective, accountable and responsive to the needs of Pakistani people. The project will support improved policy dialogue, political debate, and public discourse, supporting citizens to play a more active and informed role in decision-making.

Overall Responsibilities of the PC:

Project coordinator , will be responsible for overall management, supervision, and reporting and relationship management of the Project in line with the set goal, objectives, indicators and timelines. The draft roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

1.       Project Design, Coordination and Implementation:

-          Act as a focal person for all project activities.

-          Coordinate the implementation of all advocacy and mobilization activities and initiatives to ensure timely and effective results in a quality manner.

-          To ensure all activity reports are submitted to donor on time.

-          Develop and implement the research agenda and facilitate research for local, regional and provincial advocacy.

-          Provide technical support in advocacy and research.

2.       Management and Supervision:

-          Supervise all project staff and provide leadership to the staff in achieving the project output in the designated districts.

-          To provide administrative and technical supervision to the team.

3.       Financial Management:

-          Management of budgets, expenditures and expenditure projections related to assigned project.

-          Effective implementation of work plan as per the available budget.

4.       Advisory Function:

-          Provide timely advice on issues of local, regional and provincial electoral reforms and policy advocacy by remaining up-to-date with governance actors, ideas, activities and initiatives.

5.       Partnership and Networking:

-          Develop working linkages with elected representatives at, provincial and local levels in designated districts.

-          Building relationship with the media for wider outreach.

-          Developing strategic partnerships and strengthening linkages with relevant stakeholders and partners.

6.       Capacity Building:

-          Facilitate staff training on project themes to develop their capacity.

7.       Monitoring and Evaluation:

-          Conduct regular visits to field to monitor project activities.

-          Advice the staff on areas for project strengthening while taking the initiative to engage in proactive and remedial action in a timely manner to strengthen the program.

-          Ensure narrative and financial reports are submitted to the donor in a timely and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Pakistani national fluent in written and spoken English and Urdu and the regional language. 
  2. Master’s Degree in the Social Sciences.
  3. Place of work: Placement in the same province of project region
  4. At least 3 years of experience in project management, social mobilization, behavioral change, research and advocacy, with minimum experience of managing a team of at least 5 program staff.
  5. Ability to use computer software like MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint.
  6. Experience in preparing budgets for small and large scale projects and managing a diverse team of personnel.
  7. Expert knowledge of Pakistani politics, advocacy and laws.
  8. Fluent in standard computer programs, including online applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and excellent typing skills in English. 
  9. Ability to work with complex budgets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  10. Demonstrated self-initiative, ability to lead a highly-productive team, and ability to work to tight deadlines and under time pressure.
