Job Title: Communications Officer

Reports to: Communications Manager

Introduction to DAI – CDIP Programme:

Consolidating Democracy in Pakistan (CDIP) is a two and a half year, £22 million, programme funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). The objective of CDIP is to support the consolidation of democratic practice in Pakistan, through strengthening the capacity of its political institutions to be more capable, accountable and responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Pakistani people.  Consolidating democracy through enhanced inclusion and legitimacy begins – and continues – beyond election day.

The programme will work closely with the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP); the Parliament; Provincial Assemblies; political parties; and civil society. It will also focus particularly on enhancing the participation and empowerment of marginalised groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities and minorities. CDIP will utilise its convening power to broker sustainable relationships that will bring together disparate groups in Pakistani society, and facilitate the building of consensus around the democratic process.

Scope of the Work:

The Communications Specialist, reporting to the communication Manager, contributes to developing and delivering CDIP communications, both internally and externally.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical:

  1. Assisting in developing and implementing CDIPs communication Strategy, ensuring effective delivery across diverse audiences and stakeholders, in line with guidance from CDIPs funders;
  2. Working closely and coordinating with implementing partners and CDIPs funders:
  3. Cultivating and managing relationship with a range of media, as appropriate:
  4. Assisting in forms of outreach and communications;
  5. Creating and disseminating communications products (videos, social media pieces, etc) in line with the communications strategy and guidance from CDIP funders.
  6. Planning and executing communications for events/meetings;
  7. Providing capacity building of partners in stakeholders on communications if required;
  8. Monitoring media coverage of the programme;
  9. Monitoring effectiveness and reach of programme messages and activities;
  10. Contributing to programme reporting on communications and outreach matters;
  11. Ensure consistency in communication across implementing partners, all materials and events.

Administrative:

     12. With substantial support from the operations and finance team,follow project management practices that are in compliance with DAI and DFID contractual rules and regulations.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Qualification: Masters and relevant qualification and experience required.
  • Experience minimum 3-5 years.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Good proficiency in MS Office

  • Problem solving and result achieving attitude.
  • Good coordination skills with multiple stakeholders
