General Scope of Work:

The Research and Information Manager will mainly be responsible for the overall development and coordination of the Applied Research and Policy Research sections and maintaining required synergies between the two sections where required. Providing facilitation and necessary guidance and policy on research and guidelines on implementation both in the field and at the Head Office levels. Moreover s/he will be responsible for maintaining coherent and multi-disciplinary approaches towards building LEAD Pakistan’s research capacity. The Manager Research and Information section will represent and promote LEAD Pakistan services externally and internally, and will establish networks/ partnerships with research experts and research institutes. The individual will also be responsible for timely delivery of all required outputs and will work with the other sections and counter parts internally and implementation partners externally on a day-to-day basis.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Initiate the development of research framework for LEAD Pakistan in consultation with Team Leader keeping in mind the mission and vision of the company.
  2. Provide key inputs in organizational/projects’ strategic planning based on potential areas of research interventions.
  3. To develop project related matrices, indicators, annual work plans, and an overall framework for project implementation.
  4. Identify and engage teams for research activities based on approved methodologies.
  5. Build partnerships and ensure effective liaison with various research institutes in collaboration with departments.
  6. Identify areas/topics for research, surveys, for necessary inputs into case studies, occasional papers, and other periodic or ad hoc publications of the company.
  7. Supervise and manage all projects’ related information for data analysis with the help of team.
  8. Through the Research section, extend support to all LEAD Pakistan sections/partners in identifying and fulfilling their research requirements and consumption in various publications.
  9. Provide guidance in the implementation of methodologies and tools for conducting field-based research.
  10. Serve as one of the lead authors for Annual Progress Report
  11. Develop TORs for team members, consultants or other resource persons do carry out research activities in line with the procedures and policies of the company.  
  12. Hold regular meetings with the team to review the progress and timely delivery of research activities of the projects.
  13. Facilitate and signing off of the quarterly/annual work plans of the team members to carry out the research activities.
  14. Oversee the dissemination of research publications to stakeholders at different levels.
  15. Regularly liaise with the Communications and Learning sections for the information sharing and knowledge management purposes.
  16. Coordinate closely with the Communication Unit for research publication and dissemination and stakeholder/policy dialogues.
  17. Coordinate with the Training Unit for case study development for training purposes.
  18. Participate in project development activities, with the aim of developing a common understanding about project outcomes, activities, outputs, resources and methodology.
  19. Develop close working relationships with project participants and stakeholders in order to establish a shared vision and achieve project objectives.

Professional & Qualification Requirements:

  1. Minimum qualification of Master’s in a economics/social sciences or a related discipline from a recognized university
  2. At least 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of professional experience in developing and implementing research and information strategies for national/international organizations.
  3. Experience of working with corporate/INGOs/donor agencies will be preferred.
  4. Excellent reasoning and analytical skills.
  5. Excellent research and report writing skills.
  6. Strong presentation and communication skills.
  7. Ability to meet targets within tight deadlines.
  8. Result-oriented leader and team player, be able to manage large teams
  9. Sound judgment, flexibility, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity.
  10. Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

The positions relate to a landmark project in Water in the Punjab Province.

All position required frequent travel between Islamabad & Lahore and Districts of Southern Punjab.
