PURPOSE OF POSITION

To improve the quality of Sungi Development Foundation’s program through gender mainstreaming in its programs and act as Gender focal point ensuring information flow between different units, and between sub offices.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Complete adherence of Sungi DF’s vision, mission, strategic objectives and policies at all levels, and suggest/recommend changes for efficient and effective system development;
  2. Develop, plan, direct/implement, and manage all the Gender program functions as per SDF Strategic needs;
  3. Take lead in designing, implementing monitoring and evaluating "gender specific" outcomes of projects and programs. 
  4. Take lead in relevant outcome of AAWAZ program and ensure gender mainstreaming in all outcomes of AAWAZ Program;
  5. Conduct research and assessments around community issues and prepare action at rational and sub rational plan levels;
  6. Take initiatives to improve gender sensitive policies and systems for improving quality of life of the marginalized;
  7. Identify the vulnerable groups and plan workshops, gender dialogues, discussion panels and symposiums at various levels so that all aspects of gender issue are examined and improvements suggested through collected inputs;
  8. Build linkages with civil society organizations and networks, government and legislature for consultation to create a wider constituency for support and lobbying;
  9. Prepare, publish and disseminate IEC material on women issues;
  10. Network, liaise and work for global and regional level forums to voice for the poor to change the global action which are affecting poor;
  11. Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports for Executive Director;
  12. Liaise and attend activities related to human rights at field level related with gender issues and provide strategic input for senior management.
  13. Undertake any other task assigned by the Executive Director.

 

Qualification:

Masters in Gender Studies (preferred) or Masters in Social Science.

Experience:

05 years’ relevant experience in Program Development & Implementation on Gender Based projects/programs as cross-cutting theme. 

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Very good understanding of different frameworks and development approaches. Very good understanding of Gender & human rights.
  • Knowledge of the geographical area, Technical Report proposal, writing and Strategic Planning  (Advanced)
  • Familiarity with data management software (MS Access, MS Excel, SPSS, etc) desirable and accountability systems
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with ability to clearly express ideas and concepts
  • Ability to operate in administratively self-serviced environment
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
