 Project Description:

This project will support Pakistani-led efforts to introduce and institutionalize improvements in reading instruction and reading assessment in grades one through five in public and private schools throughoutPakistan.

 Position Summary:

Logistics manager oversees the movement, distribution and storage of materials and manages the flow of incoming materials and outgoing finished products. Logistics manager may oversee warehouse/store, inventory control, material handling, customer service, fleet management and managing transportation needs for project activities. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for procurement of goods, works and services in compliance with company policies and USAID rules/regulations. Logistics Manager will supervise support staff members including but not limited to administrative assistants, receptionist and drivers. Will be responsible to maintain tracking sheets and prepare reports for upper management; negotiate supplier costs, and work to improve the efficiency of the company’s logistical operations.

Reporting & Supervision:

Reporting directly to the Operations Coordinator with technical reporting relationship to Director of Operations, the Logistics Manager will support the management of a field team and offices for implementation of the project activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that company’s policies or procedures for logistical activities are followed and record is maintained.
  • Prepare metrics, reports, tracking sheets and process documentation, support services logistics, procurement and inventory records.
  • Carryout bidding processes for selection of vendors/suppliers and service providers for procurement of goods/supplies/equipment, works and services.
  • Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
  • Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.
  • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting materials and supplies for field/district offices.
  • Maintain inventory, store and supply records and filing system.
  • Prepare and submit complete procurement cases for approval of head office.
  • Manage logistical support for event management, catering services and supplies for training activities for the field/district offices.
  • Manage distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources and project related materials and equipment per policy of the organization.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field highly desired (supply chain management, business administration, logistics, etc.)
  • 5 years Demonstrated management experience in the same or related field;
  • Fluency in oral and written communication skills in English required;
  • Verbal fluency in Urdu required;
