Job title:                       Research & Communication Officer

Purpose of the role

CABI plans to hire a full time Research & Communication Officer to undertake research and reporting activities of the project.

Key Accountabilities

Project Reporting (75% of the time)

  • Conduct detailed and quality literature review and prepare briefs for all cases and overall reporting
  • Assist in designing methodology and analytical framework for conducting case studies
  • Assist in pilot testing case studies approach in Pakistan and producing final reports for the funding partners
  • Assist in planning and implementing field researches for 6 case studies
  • Prepare selection criteria plotters for each case according to the prescribed gender, economic and innovation variables
  • Conduct case studies using existing global study methodology-consolidate and tidy up data for analysis and write ups
  • Asses similarities and differences across the regions
  • Prepare case study briefs, research reports and other narrative documents for submission
  • Report progress as per agreed plan

Communication and image building (20% of the time)

  • Prepare newsletters, stories and picture essays on CABI C&WA activities
  • Promote CABI C&WA activities on social media (face book, twitter, YouTube etc.)

Any other work (5% of the time)

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and language skills

  • Masters in economics, business administration or any relevant field of social sciences
  • Excellent report writing skills in English
  • Proficient in using statistical packages for social science
  • Examples of previous research and communication works will be value addition

Previous experience

  • Experience of social research especially related agriculture and gender studies
  • Worked as lead or co-author of quality social research publications
  • Experience of working with teams from diverse backgrounds and cultures

Personal characteristics

  • Team player with good communication skills and ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent skills in MS office – particularly in MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong personal organisational and business skills
