General Background and Position Description

USAID Power Distribution Program (PDP) is providing assistance to the government owned Power Distribution Companies of Pakistan (DISCOs), with the aim to curtail losses, enhance revenues and have a well regulated power distribution system in Pakistan.  PDP’s assistance, in its current phase, is geared towards Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) and will end in Septmber 2015.

The Communications Assistant will be responsible for handling all administrative aspects of the office along with internal & external coordination and support functions. He will work closely with both the PESCO team lead and Communications Officer to ensure timely execution and delivery of interventions. 

Relevant Experience:

  1. Minimum graduation with 3 years experience in similar working environment in communications, media & event management.
  2. Should have awareness of media planning and event management. Fully conversant with written and spoken English & Urdu. Good interpersonal communication skills. 

Job Description:

  • Work with Communications officer in planning and organize trainings and events.
  • Coordinate with local authorities for trainings and events both within PESCO and externally with stakeholders for energy conservation sessions and other outreach initiatives.
  • Serve as a focal person for logistics of trainings and events with support to all PDP interventions in Peshawar circle.
  • Oversea office logistics, administration and liaison with local authorities.
  • Make sure the smooth functioning of communications office through regular attendance and maintaining logbooks for drivers.
  • Assist in procurement and vendors management through generation of PRF’s and maintaining stocks.
  • Assist in the production of a stakeholders’ database. Maintain an updated mailing list for PESCO’s newsletter circulation in consultation with DGPR and ensure timely dispatch of monthly newsletters.
  • Coordinate and assist in organizing consumer outreach seminars at schools, colleges and in the local community.
  • Provide photography assistance during trainings and events.
  • Assist communications team in event management including installation of publicity material, venue setup, registration desks etc.
  • Work with media specialist on documentaries and recordings and assist in logistics of documentary equipment during field visits.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
