Project Coordinator- Food and Nutrition Security project

LASOONA: Society for Human & Natural Resource Development is looking for a highly self-motivated and energetic professional as Project Coordinator for one of its projects namely “Sustainable solution to food and nutrition insecurity” with the following job specification.

  • Technical skills and knowledge required

The ability to work effectively with a wide range of food and nutrition security programs and stakeholders. Having good knowledge and experience of issues related to food security and nutrition sensitive interventions. In-depth understanding of behavior change communication, KAP, HDDS, IDDS and integrated approaches towards nutrition security.  Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Familiar with SPHERE and HAP standers. Excellent creative and conceptual skills, computer skills (word, Excel, power point); Training/facilitation and presentation skills; fluent in English and Urdu both verbal/written is a must, knowledge of Pashto and other local languages will be add advantage.

  • Competencies

Trained acumen and equipped with contemporary approaches to food and nutrition security. Having good understanding of strong leadership, management, and planning, analytical, interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills. Respect accountability, analytical ability, building partnership, stress tolerance, facilitating change, adaptability, good team player and gender sensitive, initiating action, problem solving aptitude, contributing to team success, information monitoring, innovation, planning and organizing.

  • Working Conditions.

This position is located in Saidu Sharif Swat with need base field travel as and when required to different parts of the country particularly KP province and project area.

  • Minimum Education & Skills:

Master’s Degree or higher in Agriculture (preferably horticulture) Development Studies, social sciences, management sciences.

  • Career Level:

Mid-level management

  • Minimum Experience:

Total experience in development sector required is 8 years, which must include at least 3 years practical work experience on managerial position in project/programs related to food and nutrition security

Primary Functions of the Job and detail Job descriptions

The position is based in at Saidu Sharif Swat with frequent visits to sub/field Offices. Under the terms of references, the incumbent shall report directly to the Program Manager Implementation. He/She is responsible for overall management of “project Sustainable solution to food and nutrition insecurity”

The project coordinator is the overall head of the project and is responsible for its management, planning, execution and reporting. He is responsible to ensure that the project successfully achieve its targets in terms of quantity and quality while observing all protocols of administrative and program policies of LASOONA and the project donor. He/She is responsible to report and represent the project at all relevant forums and liaise with all relevant stakeholders. The project coordinator is responsible to provide technical and managerial guidance to all project staff, more specifically he/she will be responsible for:

a)    Provide lead support in strategizing the project planning, implementation and monitoring plans.

b)    Orientation of the newly inducted staff and building their capacity through regular feedback and mentoring support.

c)    Ensure effective and efficient management of human & other resources under the Project.

d)    Work closely with Program Manager implementation, Coordinator MER, F&A and Executive Director for compliance with donor requirements and organization's policies during project implementation.

e)    Analyze budget of different activities, monthly/quarterly forecast, monthly/quarterly financial follow-up related to the project and provide necessary support to the finance section.

f)     Conduct coordination meeting with line departments, NNGOs and INGOs working in the project area.

g)    Ensure Impact oriented implementation in line with project LFAs and proposal.

h)    Ensure integration of organizational cross cutting themes in the projects implementation

i)      Liaise with project stakeholders’ on regular basis.

j)      Pursue NOC and MOUs relevant to the project with concern government authorities

k)    Prepare monthly/quarterly and final narrative reports of the project by working closely with Program Managers Implementation, M&E and Executive Director.

l)      Review progress and planning of the various components of the project and provide technical inputs to ensure timely and effective completion of different interventions/tasks.

m)  Take lead in organizing donor visits and media liaison.

n)    Facilitate interface with organization's head office and other field offices.

  • o)    Design, plan and manage the programs and their timely implementation according to financial frames.

p)    Provide technical oversight to ensure quality and standards of program implementation.

q)    Ensure Gender consideration in all interventions under the project.

r)     Identify and analyze gender issues during the project implementation and prepare reports.

s)    Conduct staff appraisal and oversee performance.

t)     Assist the Operation department in selection of relevant/ appropriate human resource for the project, by participation in interview panel in selection of project staff.

u)    Assist operation department in TORs/JDs development of project staff.

v)    Provide strategic inputs in planning, implementation and reporting of M&E plan.

w)   Present the project regular updates in the management review meetings.

x)    Provide at least 40% of his/her official time to the field activities.

y)    Ensure that the safety and security plan/security protocols are observed and followed in the project.

z)    Ensure compliance of organizational administrative and program policies in the project implementation.

aa) Undertake any other responsibility relevant to his/her job description and assigned by the Management.
