Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national, non-profit and non-governmental organisation established and registered in May 2002. We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security.

CAMP requires 2 Senior Social Organisers (1 man and 1 female) to be based in Peshawar. The project areas are District Peshawar, Buner and Dera Ismail Khan.

Assignment Description:

The Awareness Raising project’s objective is to ensure awareness about basic laws and legal information needs, civic responsibilities and to build sustainable social capital through CBOs as a tool to create that awareness. Reducing the distance between the state and citizens (supported by two-way communications, access to information and transparency), legal awareness and empowerment support a positive social transformation that may provide for greater direct political participation, thereby strengthening political oversight.

Job Description

Job Summary:

With the guidance of the Project Lead perform day to day activities at the field level; ensure the project is implemented according to the agreed standards and timeline; facilitate monitoring and reporting of the project; and maintain a good relationship with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identification of CBOs in KP with focus on 3 Model Units.
  2. Assess/identify training needs for the CBOs.
  3. Capacity building of the CBOs with special focus to work with inclusion of women in these trainings.
  4. Develop in close coordination with Aitebaar, training manuals (on the basis of Legal Needs Assessment) for CBOs.
  5. Design and develop Awareness Raising materials (IEC) with Aitebaar closely in terms of context and design etc.
  6. Conduct trainings for 30 CBO members (10 members each CBOs/3 total CBOs/1 CBO per MODEL UNIT).
  7. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on citizen legal information needs and civic responsibilities.
  8. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on prosecution services.
  9.  Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on investigation services/investigation cells.
  10. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on community policing plans.
  11. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on correction services including parole and probation issues.
  12. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on alternate dispute resolution platforms.
  13. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct awareness raising sessions on Gender-based violence issues, status of women and Lady Complaint Units and Gender Responsive Policing.
  14. Develop in close co-ordination with Project/Output lead and conduct community based appraisal methods such as Citizen Report Cards.
  15. Ensure timely completion of all activities in accordance with approved work plan.
  16. Ensure 30% female participation in Awareness Raising sessions.
  17. Ensure timely submission of all reports on template to be agreed with Coffey.
  18. Aitebaar will closely monitor the Awareness Raising sessions.

General

  1. Adhere to CAMP policies/procedures including finance, human resources, security, procurement and logistics; and ensure staff compliance.
  2. Participate in professional development activities, as needed or assigned.
  3. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or Founding Chief Executive.
  4. Adhere to all security advice from the Coffey International Development HSSE Manager.
  5. Adhere to Coffey International Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Programme Operations Manual.
  6. Submit all technical outputs for peer review prior to client submission in accordance with Coffey International Development’s quality assurance procedures.
  7. Report in advance possible resourcing decisions and/or any procurement to the supervisor.
  8. Engage in the activities of the Programme Management Team and contribute to the progression of the programme, to ensure delivery of project outputs and outcomes in line with the PSP log-frame. This will involve routine whole-of-project meetings (each week) to undertake detailed review of progress against the log-frame, adjusting work plans and resourcing on an ongoing basis to remain on track.
  9. Undertake other activities reasonably requested by the Team Leader, Programme Management Team, or by the client (DFID) through the Project Director for the successful accomplishment of the programme’s immediate objectives.

Working Conditions & Travel:

The positions are based in Peshawar. Travel to the project areas and some travel to Islamabad will be required.

Person Specification

Education and Experience:

  • Masters Degree from an HEC recognized university in a social science subject/relevant discipline

Experience, Skills & Competencies:

  • 3 years of experience working with communities in community mobilization, advocacy and capacity building
  • Experience in working at grassroots/community level
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and analyze data and translate into policy
  • Should be fluent in English (Pushto added advantage) with excellent report writing capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in training CBOs
  • Proven experience working with local CBOs in KP
  • Exceptional interpersonal and skills and an ability to work collegially with team members and stakeholders
  • Ability to think clearly and logically
  • Ability to allocate and review priorities to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility in approach and an ability to adapt to varying demands
  • Proven skills in problem identification and resolution
  • An ability to translate high-level objectives into action planning
  • Proven ability to live and work in conflict affected and/ or hostile environments.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook express, internet, powerpoint)
  • Having organizational commitment, personal integrity, ability to work with diverse groups of people and respect for others
