Purpose of the Position:

To provide technical oversight to the WV construction projects in Pakistan.


Major Responsibilities 

Develop village development plan with co-ordination of CBO’s and project team,

Co-ordinate and share this plan with link dept. before implementation. 

Analyze risks associated with natural disasters including earthquake, fire and floods, wind, and design structures and services to meet appropriate standards.

Develop assessment tools on project need base, (for school, for health facilities, for water channels, for MHP, for infrastructures, for WatSan etc.etc.) conduct complete assessment, and compute estimated cost and BOQ’s supported by design and drawings. All drawings must be made by Auto CAD

Close monitoring during implementation as per specification and design, reject/accept the quality of works and instruct contractor/community and record on daily log sheet, maintain it on each field visit.

Share weekly and monthly reports with NRC

Verify the invoice against measured quantities for payments

Assist in investigation of sites to work out the most suitable foundation for a proposed construction, research and advise on the best engineering solution to meet with needs and budget, develop detailed programs for the coordination of site activities.

Assist in establishing of detailed programs for the planning of design and construction processes. Organize the delivery of materials and equipment needed for construction, supervise labor. Provide skilled assistance to builders and construction managers by interpreting and carrying out directions for planning and organizing building projects.

Interpret building plans, regulations and codes of practice to direct progress of the work, making sure that specifications and regulations are followed and proper methods and materials are used

Estimate costs and prepare specifications for materials used in civil engineering works, prepare BOQ’s based on CDI approach, with community share, calculate costs and estimate completion times to prepare tenders

Analyze and record reports on loading, labor, productivity, quality, materials and performance. Record building progress and variations from the design drawings or specifications.

Operate and program computers to assist with calculations.

Measure and test material processes or systems related to civil engineering works. Inspect civil engineering works, modify and supervise repair work and maintenance. Check to make sure that finished works are within specifications, contract terms and regulations.

Submit daily work schedules for field construction and office activities.

Coordinate project activities with managers, construction workers, contractors and community

Assist Reconstruction Team Leaders in preparing programs within project and community needs identification and setting budgets.

Perform any other work as assigned any by the Civil engineer and/or Construction manager.

 

Skills, knowledge and Abilities:

Education

Degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Construction Engineering or similar.

Experience

At least 2 years of previous experience in working on construction projects.

Good command of oral and written English is a must.

Command on AutoCAD is essential.

Computer literacy is compulsory.
