Master Trainer Disaster Risk Reduction

Manage developing WVP’s disaster preparedness and response plans for WASH sector and manage the provision of disaster preparedness and management training to target audience in community and WVP staff and act as the principal point of reference for WVP staff in disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction issues in WASH sector.

Major responsibilities:

  1. Identify priorities for disaster preparedness, mitigation, and disaster risk reduction in the operational area in all sectors through assessments of prevailing/ frequent disaster risks, vulnerabilities and capacities.
  2. Assist WVP in developing disaster preparedness capacity building programmes for community and line departments in MuzaffarGarh in WASH sector.
  3. Conduct in-depth analysis of the risks, vulnerabilities and capacities in project areas and in high risk communities and develop adequate capacity building programs to address those vulnerabilities in WASH sector.
  4. Be responsible for the development of training session plan and organize trainings on the modules for disaster preparedness including the design and preparation of training materials.  
  5. Conduct Manage training needs assessment for staff members, stakeholders and devise capacity building exercises in coordination with EWS and COVACA specialist involved in developmental sector in WASH sector.
  6. Organize training events for community and line based organizations at village level in better protection of WASH assets and reduces risks.
  7. Visit communities to provide support and training in their emergency preparedness planning.
  8. Manage the dissemination of “best practices” in the field of disaster preparedness and risk reduction in WASH sector through visits to organizations, private study and attending training courses.
  9. Network with other training professionals and keep up to date with training materials, publications and courses and with changes and developments in training practices. 
  10. Coordinate with WASH team, CV & A trainers if there is an other issue on DRR that requires public and government to be alert and conduct necessary action to solve the issue.
  11. Develop Orientation package on DRR for hygiene promotion and CVA trainers   

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  1. Masters/Bachelor/Diploma in DRR in or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  2. 3-4 years experience in NGO or DRR.
  3. Significant proven experience in WASH and DRR-Training provision
  4. Ability to arrange and conduct trainings
  5. Ability of working in mixed gender/ethnic environment
  6. 3-4 experience in the training with community
  7. DRR minimum standard by SPHERE
  8. Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)
  9. Thorough knowledge of MS office and Lotus Notes
  10. Knowledge of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct, understands other international development guidelines
  11. Ability to train and increase capacity of WASH team
  12. Commitment to World Vision Core values and mission statement
