Job Summary:

Works closely with product/project manager to write and create end-user documentation deliverables for LMKR software. Documentation deliverables include and are not limited to online help systems, user guides, installation guides, system administration guides, training manuals and product release notes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as and when required.

Write Technical/Training Documentation – this is accomplished through items listed below:

  • Write technical user documentation and/or training documentation using defined styles and conventions to produce specific deliverables.
  • Work closely with team lead or Editor to develop writing skills.
  • Rewrite written work based on edits provided by team lead or Editor.
  • Implement suggestions from edits into new assignments.
  • Use source content to create deliverables (listed in the Jobs Summary section).

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in English, Education, or related discipline along with one year of writing experience. 
  • Organizational experience in a fast paced software development environment is preferred.

Language Ability:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or software documentation. 
  • Ability to write procedural and conceptual software instruction, business correspondence and business reports. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients (internal and external), and co-workers.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written or diagram form and translate, in writing, abstract conceptual information.

Skills – Desired:

To perform this job successfully, knowledge of the following will be preferred:

  • E&P industry including the role of companies like LMKR in the upstream oil & gas sector
  • Agile Software Development methodology & Rally
  • Adobe Technical Communication Suite (especially FrameMaker, RoboHelp and Captivate).
  • SnagIT and/or other image capturing software.
  • Microsoft Office (especially Word, PowerPoint and Project).
