Job Summary

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) runs one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, with a focus on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through a range of services such as 24-hour Basic health care, outreach clinics, capacity building of community midwives and department of health staff to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.

Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent, flexible, and hardworking District Coordinators for 3 districts including Diamer, Astore and Gilgit. The District Coordinator will be based in the respective districts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and coordinate with district-level stakeholders such as DHOs, MS (Health Facility Level), LHWs, Vaccinators and Union Council (UC)-level notables to ensure the smooth implementation of health activities particularly related to immunization and nutrition.
  • Engage with internal program teams and supervise health-related activities in the district
  • Plan and conduct health activities for all donor-funded programs in the district
  • Plan and conduct progress review meetings with District Health Management Teams (DHMT)
  • Develop, implement, and monitor field activity plans based on the project work plan and timeline
  • Regularly visit health facilities and outreach sites for supportive supervision and monitoring of project activities and take corrective actions for identified gaps
  • Build and sustain strong liaison with other agencies such as Government counterparts, WHO, AKRSP, WFO, BISP Naushonuma nutrition program on the ground
  • Collect field data, ensure its quality, completion, and timely reporting as per program and donor guidelines
  • Ensure the development of robust referral mechanisms, especially for malnourished (stunted, wasted, low birth weight preterm, etc.) and unimmunized children to referral facilities 
  • Develop effective tracking systems for outpatient and inpatient services under the program and other donor-funded programs
  • Supervise and plan training and capacity-building initiatives for healthcare providers and related field staff at the project sites (such as LHWs, LHVs, Nurses, Doctors, Vaccinators, etc.)
  • Establish health committees at Union Councils and ensure functionalization of committees
  • Ensure provision of vaccines and nutrition supplies and procurement of equipment and any related medical supplies for health facilities/outreach in collaboration with the supply chain department
  • Any related tasks assigned by the project team as per need

 

Required Skills

Education, Experience & Core Competencies

  • Bachelors or Masters degree from any recognized university in public health, project management, social sciences or related health fields
  • At least 2-3years of experience in health related field especially Immunization, MCH, Nutrition, project management.
  • Prior experience of working with an international organization in a similar field would be an added advantage.
  • Fluency in local languages and English
  • Good written and verbal communication with strong skills of report writing
  • Good people management skills for supervision and mentoring of team
