ROLE PURPOSE:
The Senior Manager- Communications and Media will lead the media and communications team and support the Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications and Media (ACCM) Director by overseeing all the media and communications initiatives of the country office.
He/she is required to work with the Country Director and the Senior Management Team (SMT) to identify media and communication priorities and develop a communication strategy for the country office. In this process, he/she is also required to undertake the responsibility of conducting a comprehensive communication risk mapping exercise and set in place a risk mitigation plan.
The Senior Manager - Communications and Media is also required to work with the Technical Advisors and the project leads to design and implement creative/innovative media and communication strategies and assets in line with the advocacy objectives set forth in the Country Strategic Plan (2023-2024). In this process, he/she will be required to extensively engage with external stakeholders - including Government stakeholders, CSO partners of the Country Office, Save the Children regional and global teams and media agencies.
As voices of children and affected communities are at the heart of all communication work of Save the Children, the post holder will be expected to travel to our project areas, consult children and communities, and encourage their participation to amplify their voices through all media and communication work of the country office. With the support of the communications team, the post holder will also be expected to draft high impact case studies in English and collect/edit high impact photos and videos to accompany these stories.
The Senior Manager - Communications and Media will also undertake the responsibility of building the capacities of the communications team and Save the Children staff. Further, he/she will also act as the Child Safeguarding focal point for all media and communication work. This in effect would require the post-holder to ensure strict adherence to the child safeguarding policy in communication work and to train Save the Children staff, partner staff and media partners on child safeguarding requirements when collecting content from the field.
In addition, he/she will lead the processes of designing and dissemination of media and communication materials, managing all social media platforms of Save the Children Pakistan, social listening, coordinating with media agencies, organizing communications and media events, and managing procurement needs.
In the event of a humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
