U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the “Mail Room Clerk” position in U.S. Embassy Islamabad.

Basic Function of the Position – The incumbent is responsible for the timely processing and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail from/to Diplomatic Post Office (DPO), Diplomatic Pouch & Mail (DPM), the Pakistan Postal Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and domestic/international couriers while providing exemplary customer service. S/he also supports inter-office mail delivery. In executing his/her duties, the incumbent adheres to all prevailing Pakistani, Department of State, and US Postal Service regulations/guidelines and established mailroom Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs). S/he is expected to be fully proficient in the Department’s electronic computer systems for mail and pouch processing, mail screening techniques, and use of associated mail handling/postage equipment. When assigned, s/he drives to offsite locations in an Embassy-issued vehicle for mail pickup and delivery.   

Qualification Requirements:

Education: Completion of Secondary School (10 years of education) is required.

Experience:  Minimum two (2) years of general clerical experience in an office environment is required.

Job Knowledge: Incumbent should have adequate knowledge about mail handling and General Office Operations, familiar with local, International and Diplomatic Mail Services. Must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction. 

Skills And Abilities: Incumbent must be able to learn about U.S. Pouch Service (USPS), Diplomatic Post Office (DPO), and International Mail Regulations, functions and practices of the Embassy and associated Agencies. S/he must be capable to use MS Office Suite, database applications and office equipment. Incumbent is required to lift up to 50kg weight. Valid Pakistani driver's license for Light Traffic Vehicle (LTV) is required. Applicants must show proof that they have a minimum of five years of licensed driving experience. Skills and abilities may be tested.
