Since the onset of 2022 monsoon floods in Pakistan, CARE International has initiated much needed life-saving humanitarian response for flood affected communities in Baluchistan, Sindh and Punjab provinces. 

I.  JOB SUMMARY:

The position of an IT Assistant will provide IT support to staff in the field office in managing troubleshooting, and upgrading the IT infrastructure. S/he serves as the point of contact for users based in the field office for technical and administrative resolution to problems related to IT equipment and/or software/s.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Job Responsibility # 1: Trouble Shooting and Management of IT Function

  • Assist in the management of Sukkhar office IT equipment and determine any equipment requiring replacement or repositioning;
  • Assist the Admin team in undertaking asset management of all related IT systems and devices.
  • Liaise with any relevant service providers to perform network cabling and Internet provision requirements. Liaise with the ISP, to confirm bandwidth availability and troubleshoot any issues;
  • Support all users connected to the local network;
  • Manage and support users on the wireless network - troubleshoot issues as they arise;
  • Test the power stability of the network to determine stability and efficiency;
  • Manage existing IP telephony within the office;
  • Setup network printers/scanners and give users access to these services;
  • Continuously monitor the LAN, Internet and WAN (where applicable) ensuring users have access and are able to meet their objectives using ICT;
  • Address any connectivity incidences reported by users through CO IT team and escalate to the global support when required;
  • Implement company's standard server threat management software to protect servers from viruses, malware and data exfiltration;
  • Ensure all end-user devices accessing network have up to date anti-virus software;
  • Ensure end user devices are automated to scan on a weekly basis if AV managed locally;
  • Provide help desk support to Pakistan staff with IT queries as they may arise. This may include setting up laptops, installing approved desktop software, and supporting conferencing via WebEx, Zoom;
  • Assist in the documentation and review of recurring IT costs and IT vendors;
  • Make any recommendations based on knowledge of the local context, vendor performance and possible areas for negotiation;
  • Train staff on use of IT software and other equipment/s that they need in order to perform their duties;
  • Coordinate with the IT vendor/s for billing, repair and maintenance of IT equipment;
  • Provide Secretarial support when there is a conference and workshop;
  • Actively perform backups of Servers, Network Configurations and Data and testing to ensure no important information is lost during disaster situations;
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems;
  • Maintain routine checkup and perform optimization of following database and internet servers;
  • Refresh laptops when returned by staff members and fix issues;
  • Assist the Manager in planning and implementing IT developments;
  • Assist the Manager in providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
  • Ensure timely, high quality completion of all relevant reporting requirements; share them with the manager as and when required;
  • Exercise professional interpersonal skills to effectively work with all staff, clients, counterparts;

III.  QUALIFICATIONS (KNOW HOW)

A) Education and Skills

Required:

·         Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as IT, or Computer Science.

Desired:

·         Hardware and network certifications e.g. CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, ITIL

B) Experience:

  • 1-2 years of demonstrative experience in ICT operations.
  • Should possess strong knowledge in setting up, managing, and upgrading office networks.

C) TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Experience in supporting end users with IT related queries
  • Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN, hub & spoke Infra, routers, switches and ASA is must.
  • Proficiency required in windows and Linux environment.
  • Experience in deploying antivirus solutions in a centralized environment
  • Experience in monitoring network security
  • Experience in monitoring Internet stability using network tools
  • Experience in working with 3rd party vendors and suppliers
  • Experience in deploying network printers
  • Experience working with people from multi-cultural backgrounds
  • Honest and of high integrity
  • Knowledge of databases and web development technologies is a plus.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS AND LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED

The incumbent will be based in Sukkhar with occasional travel to country Office as and when required.
