Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Over the years, IOM has expanded and affirmed its role as the leading Organization assisting the Government of Pakistan to ensure humane and orderly movement of people by devising practical solutions to shifting dynamics of migration, protecting, assisting and supporting vulnerable migrant populations, promoting international cooperation on migration issues and serving as a key source of advice on migration policy, research, data and practice  Pakistan remains the third-largest refugee-hosting country globally, hosting Afghan refugees holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, Afghan Citizenship Card (ACC) holders and undocumented Afghan migrants.

IOM supports the Government of Pakistan in the implementation of cross-border programming supporting Afghan migrants and refugees which aims to contribute towards promoting peaceful co-existence with host communities. In view of present government policy, and in line with the strategic approaches adopted by the Afghanistan Situation Regional Refugee Response Plan (2022) and IOM ’s Comprehensive Action Plan for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries (2021-2024). IOM Pakistan will support the most vulnerable communities hosting Afghan migrants and refugees to address humanitarian needs and reduce protection risks for people on the move, in parallel to anticipatory action to mitigate the crisis impact, save lives and livelihoods, and enable societies to transition and recover towards sustainable development.

 

Organizational Context and Scope

 

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator in IOM Pakistan and the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will be responsible for deliverables outlined in the following sections:

 Core Functions / General Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the implementation of all livelihood activities under the livelihoods portfolio of the Unit as guided by the direct supervisor and in line with livelihoods technical tools.
  2. Assist in livelihood field assessments including labour market assessments and supply chain mapping.
  3. Support the beneficiary selection process by conducting interviews, registering, and profiling applicants using the specific criteria set by the technical team.
  4. Support IOM selected individuals by facilitating orientation meetings and business training sessions as necessary and support them in the formulation of their business plans.
  5. Assist the Cash Based Intervention (CBI) distribution process, to ensure efficient, accountable, and timely cash distribution
  6. Maintain up-to-date tracking and accurate data of the beneficiaries in coordination with field staff and the Information Management (IM) team.
  7. Assist M&E activities through conducting monitoring visits to beneficiaries as guided by the M&E officer.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

Education:

-          University degree in social sciences, economics, business management from an accredited academic university or institute. Or equivalent combination of relevant training and practical experience.

 

Experience:

-          Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in social projects/community stabilization, experience with international organization is an advantage.

-          Experience in livelihood projects is added value

Languages:

Good knowledge in English is required (oral and written), local languages (Pashto, Urdu)

Applicants should have a working knowledge (both oral and written) of at least one of IOM’s official languages (English, French or Spanish).

Note:-

Any offer made to the candidate in relation to this Call for Application is subject to funding confirmation.

The salary depends on the qualifications and it’s between a range of PKR 119,896 – PKR 257,367 per Month.

The initial contract duration is 03 months with possibility of extension subject to the performance and availability of Budget.
