CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children International has launched the ACTIVATE (Adaptable Communications and Technology for Increasing Vaccination Acceptance and Teen Engagement) project to promote COVID-19 vaccination uptake and reduce the impact of the pandemic. It is geared towards helping children’s lives return to “normal,” while mobilizing children & youth as vaccination champions in their communities. The project is being piloted in six countries: Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Kenya. Informed by behavioural sciences, social listening, youth engagement, and real-time evidence, the project seeks to develop and test a set of tools that can be adapted globally to counter vaccine hesitancy.

The first phase prioritizes the development of tools including:  visual story telling videos, a social media campaign content pack, vaccine communication strategy and content pack, a text message series, and a community mobilization kit. This includes child-friendly products, inoculation against misinformation tools, and social media influencer strategies. The tools will be tailored to the contexts of each pilot country, with the intent of gathering learnings that will be adaptable to countries across the world.

Save the Children Pakistan is implementing ACTIVATE in Pakistan at a national level. The campaign will be conducted across various mediums, including social media, radio, and SMS.

Communications and Program Assistant will support the development and implementation of the ACTIVATE campaign. The position holder will provide support to the communications team in content development, campaign management and coordination for the project. He/she will contribute to evidence-based advocacy efforts to ensure quality implementation of all advocacy activities at the Pakistan Country Program. S/he will facilitate the process of designing and implementation of communications, advocacy and campaign initiatives. S/he will ensure compliance to Save the Children communication policy while strengthening knowledge management and utilization by the Pakistan Country Office.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Support the communication team in development of campaign plans, content and reports for the ACTIVATE project.
  • Coordination and management of digital media firm for Activate campaign to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Coordination with region and ensuring compliance with regional guidelines and objectives for the campaign.
  • Contextualization and localization of ACTIVATE campaign to Pakistani context.
  • Support the team in planning and coordinating with telecom companies for SMS broadcasting campaign.
  • Support the team in the planning, coordination and execution of national level radio show series including shortlisting and coordination with radio show participants; development of interview questions and public service announcements; and coordination with government stakeholders and radio channels for implementation and post campaign analysis.
  • Coordination with children for organizing digital hangouts on Zoom.
  • Report writing, content writing and social media copywriting for the Activate campaign.
  • Support in development and rolling out of communications across all channels for the organization.
  • Brainstorming and developing creative tools for effective communications for the ACTIVATE project.
  • Assisting development and monitoring of country level communications and advocacy strategy.
  • Support implementation of strategies that increase SC’s visibility to diverse audiences, expanding digital information sharing capacity, and contribute to strengthening internal communication systems.
  • Conducting the day-to-day internal and external communications and profiling initiatives of the organization.
  • Ensuring the publication and promotion of organizational materials.
  • Facilitate initiatives on advocacy and campaigning on child rights, climate change and vaccine hesitancy.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or a relevant area of study.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, fluency in English and Urdu, as well as working knowledge of social media management.
  • One to two years of experience working as a communications professional for a non-profit, for-profit, or government agency, or related professional experience.

Desirable:

  • Well informed about COVID-19 situation and vaccinations in Pakistan.
