Roles and Responsibilities: 

The key responsibility of the Petroleum Economist is to run company economics and provide support in business planning & overall strategy of the company. The role also requires giving inputs in business development activities, such as farm-ins, farm-outs, acquisitions and divestitures of assets. The major responsibilities to this effect are given below:

  • To carry out economic evaluation of company’s all exploratory & development projects.
  • To analyze new business opportunities vis-à-vis their regulatory, fiscal & economic perspective and making necessary recommendation to the management.
  • The role also requires giving inputs in business development activities, such as farm-in, farm-out, acquisition and divestitures of assets.
  • Generate analyses for budgeting / business planning.
  • To evaluate and analyze local & international business opportunities and making necessary recommendations to the management.
  • Monitor regulatory initiatives that impact the business and development and propose an appropriate corporate response.
  • Existing Exploration portfolio analysis and ranking.
  • Propose business solutions for the value addition to the existing properties.

Qualification:

Master’s degree in Economics/Finance or BSc Petroleum Engineering.

Post qualification relevant experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in oil & gas industry with evaluation and financial modelling of Exploratory/Producing assets.
  • With good understanding of E&P sub-surface and surface issues
  • Solid understanding of applicable regulatory regime of upstream sector
  • Upstream modelling software experience, excellent excel skills
  • Knowledge of economics and Understanding of reserve estimations and uncertainties
  • Ensure effective and robust analysis with regards to due diligence in rollout of acquisition and merger strategies
  • Provide economic modelling and sensitivity analysis in order to fully understand and implement value drivers that could significantly enhance project returns
