Background

Winrock is an international nonprofit organization that works with people around the world to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity, and sustain natural resources seeks applications for the position of Short-Term Technical Assistant – Female Training Officer.

Purpose and Objectives of Assignment:

The advertised opening is based in Hyderabad Sindh. The Project seeks an individual, for the position of Female Training Officer which can:

  • Identify women existing role in the selected value chain namely banana, dates, chili & tomato from production to post-harvest management and marketing.
  • Review findings of the study on Post-harvest Market Analysis for Horticulture in Sindh especially the section on Role of Gender; some of the roles identified therein include sowing/transplanting, weeding, harvesting, grading & packing, etc. 
  • Estimate training targets and design work plan for their accomplishment.
  • Develop comprehensive strategy and methodology for delivery of trainings.
  • Undertake any other activities that may be assigned by DCOP/COP.
  • Develop reports for internal use and sharing with USDA as required.
  • Travel as necessary to support project implementation in Province of Sindh.

Skills and Qualifications:

The candidate:

  • Should be at least graduate in agriculture, horticulture or food sciences
  • 2 to 3 years work experience of conducting trainings in agriculture sector
  • Good understanding and knowledge of farming sector in Pakistan especially the role of women
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good ability to communicate in local language
  • Willing to travel to remote areas and working in rural environment 

Technical/Functional Competencies:

  • Computer literate well versed with Microsoft applications (word processing, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Good oral & written English Skills.
  • Willing and have ability to work in a target and timeline-oriented environment

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English & Sindhi is must;
  • Good research and analytical skills;
  • Ability to produce well written reports demonstrating analytical ability and   communication skills;
  • Facilitation and excellent training skills.

Work environment:

Work is accomplished in office setting and field travels as per requirement.

Estimated Level of Effort:

Up to 120 workdays (06 months based upon a 5 days’ work week)

 Estimated Dates of Performance:

01 December 2020 to 31 May 2021               

 Reporting Relationship:

The individual will be directly reporting to Provincial Program Coordinator - Sindh of the project.

 Deliverables:

  • Deliver interactive & field based practical trainings for better learning and improvement of trainees’ skills.
  • Identify needs for provisions of small equipment/tools that will directly contribute in improving work efficiency and consequently remunerations.
  • Prepare reports on activities, outputs and outcomes for internal use and submission to donors.
