Programme Coordinator TOR’s

Background:

Peace & Justice Network (PJN) is a national civil society network consisting of over 50 member and partner organizations registered with SECP under Section 42 working for Social Justice, Rule of Law and Good Governance for Peaceful, Just, Inclusive and Prosperous Pakistan with prime focus on SDGs 16 Plus promotion and implementation,. PJN is the provincial partner for the Aawaz II programme in Punjab and is looking for dynamic and hardworking person with extensive experience in the program planning and coordination with strong government liaisoning, civil society engagement and thematic knowledge of child labour, early and forced marriage, gender-based violence (GBV) and to promote social cohesion and tolerance.

Aawaz II will work with local communities in 26 districts of Punjab through a network of district partners to promote the right of children, women, youth, and other marginalised groups, to strengthen their control over their developments. The program aims to achieve these objectives by creating a more protective and enabling environment for girls, boys, women, youth, religious minorities, the differently-abled and those at risk of exclusion and exploitation by supporting/ strengthening systems and community responses that provide protection from exploitation and prevent discrimination and intolerance at all levels.

 

Job Description:

Programme Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordination of Aawaz program and its activities. Specific responsibilities includes:

  • Plan and coordinate provincial and district level program meetings, consultations, seminars around program themes (Women, Youth, PWS, Minorities, Child labour, and other harmful practices) by engaging relevant government and civil society stakeholders. Conduct thematic consultation. 
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and experts for establishing civil society policy advocacy and lobbying forum at provincial and district level (Aawaz Provincial Forum and Aawaz District Forum).
  • Liaise closely, continuously and constructively with primary stakeholders, local authorities and other relevant project stakeholders for the advocacy action to address gender based violence, early/forced marriage, child labour and for promoting social cohesion.
  • Ensure timely delivery of the programme activities as per the work plan. Compiling and maintaining monthly and quarterly activities and project reports and minutes of meetings; and ensuring program data received from all implementing partners on time for further analysis and reporting.
  • Organize regular coordination meetings with district program managers on program progress and provide them inputs in the implementation of the Project activities where needed;
  • Ensure the effective knowledge sharing and management by regularly sharing and updating important data, information, publications, and news on program themes with all the provincial and district program teams.
  • Coordinate with program teams and field partners for effective implementation and functioning of early warning system (EWS)/ early response system (ERS) from communities to provincial level.
  • Ensures smooth communication between all partners and stakeholders. Maintains collaborative relationships with both external and internal program partners and stakeholders.
  • Ensure achievement of intended results and targets of the program. Collect and compile required information for project implementation, monitoring and evaluations.
  • Develop, compile and write lessons, communication, promotional literature, and/or program tools for distribution and/or implementation.
  • Conduct field visits as necessary for program implementation and ensure technical oversight.
  • Any other task/s related arising needs of the assignment

 

Standard Minimum Qualification and Expertise:

Education: Master Degree in Social Sciences or Bachelor degree in Law.  

Experience and specific expertise: 5 to 8 years of work experience and ability to network with and develop a broad array of partnerships with all relevant stakeholders. Experience of managing civil society forums and networks on women, children, persons with disabilities, youth, minorities and transgender community. Engagement with human rights stakeholders and expertise in building alliances and collaborations with civil society organizations and forums. Specific expertise includes:

  • Ability to network with or develop a broad array of partnerships with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience working with or coordinating partners with community and national levels organizations and networks.
  • Good understanding of programmes and project management.
  • Passionate and committed to human rights including respect for diversity, integrity and transparency.
  • Maintain superior levels of professionalism while working under pressure in a fast-paced and sometimes difficult environment.

 Language: Fluency in English and Urdu language and excellent writing skills
