Position Summary:

AKHS,P is looking for a dynamic public health professional to become part of its Programs Unit. The Manager, Programs will play a key role in identification of new program opportunities, designing new public health programs for implementation within AKHS,P’s primary and secondary care continuum, and project and grant management for assigned health projects. The individual will strengthen public health programme development at the organization, ensuring that programmes are evidence-based, integrated within the healthcare system, contribute to the Government’s priorities in health, and the overall development of the populations which AKHS,P serves. S/he will establish data management and analysis to inform program design.

As part of his/her role, the Manager, Programs will coordinate closely with donors, government stakeholders and other AKDN agencies to position and carry out programs effectively. S/he will also work closely with Finance, Operations and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning functions of the organization to ensure timely and quality implementation of the program, including programmatic, reporting, and financial deliverables. S/he will also be responsible for contributing to, the development of proposals for funding and support.

Detailed Position Responsibilities:

  • To provide technical guidance to regional implementation teams and ensure that programs are evidence-based, and designed and implemented to meet project objectives
  • To set clear objectives and targets for programmes in the form of well thought out project implementation plans and monitoring and evaluation frameworks
  • To ensure that these are communicated effectively to implementation teams and ensure that field teams are achieving project targets (both programmatic and financial)
  • To ensure high quality, timely, and impact-oriented reporting to donors
  • To develop and maintain excellent relations with national and international donors, relevant government departments, and other AKDN agencies
  • To establish team work with other departments within the organization to ensure that project targets can be met jointly
  • To establish key research components within each project to develop a culture of learning and translate knowledge gained into evidence-based programming
  • To develop mechanisms for excellent data collection, management and analysis to support research, innovation, and learning

Position requirements:

  • Regular travel to AKHS,P program sites of relevance (including Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chitral)
  • Representing AKHS,P in key stakeholder meetings and conferences
  • Participation in continuing professional education sessions/seminars/trainings 

Position Specifications:

Qualification: Masters in Public Health or related field

           

Experience: 5 years experience of project / program management experience in the public health sphere. Experience in key public health areas such as nutrition, health systems strengthening, or sexual and reproductive health programming is preferred.

Ability and Traits: A dynamic, dedicated, and hard-working individual with the ability to innovate and problem solve. Strengths in building relationships and working in teams to deliver consistently. Strong programmatic skills and a track record of successful management of donor funded public health programs. Must have excellent knowledge of primary and secondary health care, experience in data management and analysis, managing programmatic budgets, communication skills and proficiency in English and Urdu.
