Relevant Experience:

 

  • Pakistani national fluent in written and spoken English and Urdu. 
  • Master’s Degree in Social Sciences.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in Governance and advocacy with an NGO.
  • Experience in designing advocacy campaigns at provincial level.
  • Expert knowledge of Pakistani politics and election systems, at the national, provincial and local levels.
  • Fluent in standard computer programs, including online applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and excellent typing skills in English. 

Job Description:

The Advocacy Assistant will mainly be responsible to provide support/assistance to the Project Coordinator on developing advocacy strategies and carrying out activities. Advocacy Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the project coordinator and will inter alia responsible for the following tasks;

  • Planning and organizing all project advocacy activities and developing advocacy points on the collective issues of women workers;
  • Building linkages with relevant stakeholders like labor department, chamber of commerce, Legislators, relevant standing committee members, association of owners etc.;
  • Assisting in arranging media briefings at provincial level for advocacy purposes;
  • Assisting in action research (Monitoring of workplaces) to gather evidence for informed advocacy by National and Provincial Women Worker’s Alliances; 
  • Facilitation in terms of conducting the meeting with labor department, trade union/associations and others as and when required;
  • Identification of active women workers for the formation of working alliance;
  • Profiling of registered workplaces and women workers from all formal sector/industries;
  • Uploading report of each activity on MIS within 24 hours of the activity;

Advocacy Assistant will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of district and provincial level advocacy/ networking events. S/he will directly report to Project Coordinator.
