Job Purpose:

The Trainer under the supervision of Master Trainer assesses teachers’ development needs and develops creative solutions to address teachers’ development needs through interactive teacher trainings and activities. Ensure implementation of effective teaching skills through development of training and teaching materials. Develops training module, field tests and finalizes trainings in conjunction with the Master Trainer. Incumbent will be required to carry out visits for field-based trainings programmes.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Training:

  • Assessing the training needs of teachers.
  • Developing, implementing and managing trainings and their assessment by using knowledge and understanding of relevant issues, ideas and theories. Developing and executing trainings using multiple strategies based on different learning styles and ability levels identified in the needs analysis.
  • Designing trainings which meet the need of distance learning and face to face learning.
  • Keeping up to date and enhancing professional knowledge and skills needed for improving performance.
  • Applying principles of performance based assessment to track the progress made by learners.
  • Supporting and providing guidance to teachers during their field work and assignment.

Monitoring and Support:

  • Measuring the progress of the learners by using a variety of assessment and follow up methods before, during and after training.  (DIL teachers, principals and trainers).
  • Visiting schools periodically to provide feedback to teachers to ensure implementation of training.
  • Creating systems for resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner while making adjustments as needed.
  • Supporting the Master Trainer in ensuring proper dissemination of information between trainers, projects and staff, developing cross-functional coordination, resolving communication issues and encouraging creative problem solving.
  • Supporting the Master Trainer in developing quarterly training reports on trainings, status and progress.
  • Supporting the Master Trainer in preparing the training and curriculum budgets.
  • Supporting in the development and implementation of Teacher Training, Teacher Development and Academic quality standards while ensuring adherence of policy document under the supervision of Master Trainer. Establishing, prioritizing and making sure teacher development objectives are met.
  • Any other task assigned by the management

Education, qualification, skills and experience:

  • Master Degree from a recognized University in Education or any other discipline.
  • 2 - 3 year experience with at least 2 years in Educational/ Development Sector specifically in Teacher Training.
  • Good command on MS office; Word, Power Point, Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to use technology to facilitate distance learning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Has the ability to prepare draft of reports or collect the data for the required reports.

Subject Specific Skills:

  • Content Knowledge

Strong knowledge of specific subject matter, and well versed with subject specific vocabulary.

National Standards

Familiarity with National targets for specific subject at the primary and secondary level

  • Interactive Communicative Teaching

Knowledge of strategies that promote and foster communication and engage students in activities allowing the pupils to develop their thinking skills

  • Assessing  Learning

Knowledge of formal and informal methods of assessment
