Location: Peshawar and Islamabad, Pakistan (able and willing to travel and/or work nationally)

Description

DAI is currently seeking applications for long-term positions for anticipated multi-year donor funded health sector programmes in Pakistan. Candidates with at least 8 years of experience of working on international development health programmes in one or more of the specialized technical and management fields listed below are encouraged to apply.

Health information systems: with prior experience of working with public sector Health Management Information Systems (DHIS2). Experience managing large/complex data systems. Experience in data analytics and developing visuals to support decision making. Holds a postgraduate degree in one of the following; epidemiology, demography, statistics, health informatics, public health preferred.

Health service delivery: with prior experience leading the planning and implementation of strategies to improve quality of health services and approaches to improve compliance with national guidelines. Strong skills in design and implementation of change management and professional motivation approaches.

Operational research: with prior experience of leading the design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative health systems research studies. Experience conducting health systems research to improve maternal and child health outcomes in Pakistan or similar context. Experience conducting large-scale learning assessments and impact evaluations. Experience publishing papers as senior author. A PhD in public health, health policy, epidemiology or another relevant speciality.

Health system innovations: with prior experience designing and implementing innovative solutions to address complex problems in health sectors in developing contexts and/or Pakistan. An in depth understanding of Pakistan health system landscape, emerging public-private partnership health models and innovative approaches for improving health service delivery in Pakistan.

Preferred candidates are those who have:

  • A good understanding of the challenges, roadblocks, opportunities and entry-points in Pakistan’s health sector, state-led health service delivery
  • Strong presentational skills, in both written and oral communication in English and Urdu are essential.
  • A professional, pleasant and solution-oriented attitude, with a passion for improving health sector services and outcomes –especially maternal and child health
  • Relevant experience of working with donor programmes funded by DFID and USAID
  • Able and willing to travel and/or work nationally.
  • Experience of working with government counterparts at federal/provincial level especially Ministry of Health
