Position Purpose

HelpAge International is an international NGO that helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination, and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. HelpAge International is a global network of organisations promoting the right of all older people to lead dignified, healthy and secure lives. We have a strong, value-based position which puts the experience of older women and men at the centre of our work. HelpAge International is implementing different humanitarian projects in Pakistan with funding from various donors. The aim of emergency department in HelpAge International is ready hands on to respond any humanitarian emergency in time and ensure timely response to save the lives. To meet the objectives, we are processing to recruit the services of Project Coordinator currently based at Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. The position holder will manage and coordinate project activities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir(AJK) through support of project staff.

Key responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the position holder are supporting overall project in planning, implementation, monitoring and coordination. The position holder will also responsible for stakeholder management and reporting to organization as well as donors as per agreed schedule and formats.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage overall project implementation in Mirpur.
  • Ensure proper support in project design, plan, implementation, monitoring and coordination to achieve the project objectives, goals and specific targets
  • Responsible for stakeholder coordination and staff management in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir
  • Ensure proper Projects documentation as per agreed protocols
  • Ensure proper monitoring and analysis of the project activities and report accordingly
  • Provide required support to project staff in planning activities and develop databases, reports etc.
  • Encourage project staff for capacity building and utilization of capacities for project objectives at maximum level.
  • Develop and share monthly /quarterly/annual progress of the project with line manager
  • Responsible to maintain project files and records at project office
  • Ensure security of staff, assets, premises and vehicles in project areas 
  • Conduct frequent field visits and report accordingly.
  • Represent HelpAge International at meetings with donors, national and local government, UN Cluster meetings and other external bodies in AJK.
  • Maintain strong relations in positive with key stakeholders including LEAs, political and administrative authorities
  • Adhere to Organization policies/procedures including finance, human resources, security, procurement and logistics; and ensure staff compliance
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, social work or relevant field.
  • Relevant Experience of at least 4-5 years working with a national or international nonprofit organization.
  • Have enough knowledge of Humanitarian Standards for work in emergencies
  • Strong project management skills
  • Flexible to work in humanitarian situation and willing to travel frequently in project areas
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent computer skills mainly in Microsoft Office package.
  • Good attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
