Technical Expert (STTA) – Challenge Fund Component

Chemonics International is implementing USAID Small and Medium Enterprise Activity (SMEA) which is a 5-year, $35 million project that is supporting Pakistan in SME-led economic growth that will help create jobs, foster entrepreneurship, and contribute to an increased GDP. As a part of the United States Government’s long-term commitment to helping Pakistanis secure a more prosperous future by increasing household incomes and employment, nurturing competitive small and medium enterprises, expanding trade and investment and creating more rewarding business opportunities, SMEA is working towards improving the enabling environment for private sector-led growth.

The USAID Small and Medium Enterprise Activity (SMEA) needs to engage a Technical Expert (STTA) for Challenge Fund Component who will be responsible for performing each task / activity related to the assignment as directed by the Challenge Fund team lead and/or his designee. All the activities performed by the expert must be in line with the awarded contract and scope of work. The expert will perform the activity by keeping in view the business protocols/scope and quality parameters defined in the contract as per Chemonics policies. The expert will be responsible to produce and submit a brief monthly report on the grant implementation progress

Responsibilities:

The Consultant will have the following specific tasks to perform:

  • Conduct monthly meeting (in person/ remote) with up to 3 scale up grantees to review the implementation progress of the programmatic activities, per criteria approved by the Challenge Fund team lead and/or his designee
  • Report the business, operational and sector specific progress of the grantee on monthly basis. Reporting format will be decided upon mutually between the consultant and SMEA Challenge Fund Manager and/or his designee.
  • Review the grantees planned activities and highlight any issues or concerns that might hamper the timely implementation of grant. Also suggest rectification measures to the Challenge Fund team.

Qualification – Experience.

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Business Administration/ Computer System Engineering/ any other relevant field to Business Management and/or IT
  • At least 10 years of business model analysis experience preferably with SMEs in ICT Sector.
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
