The Embassy of Switzerland is the official Swiss representation in Pakistan and covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic, financial and legal affairs, as well as science, education and culture.
Besides Pakistan, the Embassy in Islamabad also covers Afghanistan.
The Embassy is currently looking for an individual who is eligible to work at the Embassy of Switzerland in Islamabad for the full-time position of Political Adviser.
The job requires the following:
Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Advising the Head of Mission and the Deputy Head of Mission on domestic political issues, current events and economic affairs;
- Providing background information, analysis, research and reports on the domestic, regional and foreign policies of the Government of Pakistan;
- Developing and maintaining relevant political, economic and other useful social contacts;
- Managing the small projects’ portfolio of the Embassy;
- Assisting in planning and execution of visits;
- Flexibility in assuming other duties according to the Embassy needs.
Personal Skills and Qualifications:
- Masters in Political Sciences;
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position;
- Excellent written and verbal communication (Proficiency in English and Urdu; knowledge of German and French a plus);
- Strong planning, organizational and prioritizing skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team;
- Capacity to multi-task and accommodate cyclical work volume;
- Advanced level knowledge of Ms-Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Ms Outlook) and Social media;
- Excellent knowledge of the Pakistani political and administrative network;
- This position requires strict confidentiality and integrity as well as;
- High level of responsibility, reliability and sense of duty.
