About Us (IREET): The Implementation of Resource and Energy Efficient Technologies in the Sugar Sector of Pakistan Project (IREET) under the EU funded SWITCH-Asia Programme aims to promote sustainable growth, contribute to economic prosperity and poverty reduction, and mitigation of climate change by enhancing resource efficiency of the sugar sector through adoption of R&EE technologies.

We are looking for “Resource and Energy Efficient Sugar Sector Expert (R&EE Sugar Sector Expert)” to join our team.

Location: Lahore, Pakistan

Scope of Work:

The precise scope of work for the R&EE Sugar Sector Expert is given below:

1. Detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Sugar Production; Both Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) and Life Cycle Impact assessment (LCIA) will be undertaken as part of the LCA using ISO 14040 standard.
2. Support in establishment of the National Power Support Cell in conjunction with PSMA which will be essentially a pool of technical, financial and regulatory experts providing consultancy to sugar sector on R&EE technology.
3. Support in formulation of standardized technical Specifications for R&EE initiatives in coordination with PSMA and solution providers, based on assessment of available designs and indigenous manufacturing capacity.
4. 4. Review of case studies for progressive sugar mills who have implemented R&EE measures at their facilities.
5. 5. Carry out discussions with procurement staff of Sugar mills and Farmers to address the issues/reservations of both sides and to come up with solutions towards formation of short-term and long term supply contracts between farmers and sugar mills.

Requirements:

The expert must possess:

1. At least 5-10 years’ experience in Sugar Industry.
2. Bachelors in Chemical Engineering, Masters will be preferred.
3. Fluency in English (writing and speaking).
4. Profound knowledge of Sugar process & ISO 14040 standard.
5. Profound negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
6. Track record of similar assignments.
7. Experience in procurement/supply chain (will be an added advantage).
