Job Description:

Excel Labs is an ISO 9001:2008 certified laboratory in performing over 10 million analyses annually. The lab is equipped with state of the art Management Information System (MIS) and instrumentation from the USA and Japan.

At Excel Labs, we follow SCRUM / Agile Software Development Methodologies to develop and maintain our MIS which is an n-tier application hosted on internal servers and Cloud that revolves around all of the lab’s workflows. As a Database Administrator, you will be actively architecting and maintaining MS SQL Databases implemented locally on Path Labs and on Cloud. You will be participating in the software development life cycle (SDLC) as appropriate and may get a chance to serve in a lead capacity on high priority enhancements, training, and devoting additional time to analyze system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, administration, and maintenance of standalone and clustered SQL Server, testing, staging and production environments
  • Provide support to the application development teams; respond to ad hoc query requests, specify how programmers will access data when appropriate, and make recommendations for application performance tuning
  • Online continuous database replication between different sites and data centers
  • Completes complex tasks utilizing Visual Management Studio including job, replication and SSIS package creation, modification and maintenance
  • Completes complex and advanced development projects involving application frameworks
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation for databases, production support, and end-users
  • Completes production and development rollouts of new schema/objects, DB’s, tables, and table changes
  • Creates and maintains stored procedures
  • Ensures that databases are backed up properly and completes database restores as required
  • Monitors server performance and corrects as appropriate
  • Optimizes complex query, index, and server functionality
  • Troubleshoots problems that arise on high-level projects 

Requirements and Preferred Experience/Skills: 

  • Minimum 5 years of database administration and development experience
  • Excellent understanding of relational databases, query optimization, and replication
  • Expert with the administration of database servers and SAN Management
  • Strong MSSQL & RedGate Experience

  • You have practical experience of working with version control systems i.e. MS Team
  • Foundation Server
  • You have prior experience of Agile/Scrum
  • You are able to effectively communicate technical concepts to other (non) technical
