VEER Development Organization (VDO) intends to hire Project Manager and WAH officer (Female) for its ongoing project named as Building Disaster Resilience in Pakistan (BDRP) Project in Dera Ismail Khan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.  

Project Manager:

Qualification and Experience:

Master Degree in Disaster Management, Economics, Public administration, Geography or any relevant field. 6-7 years’ experience in development sector specifically 3-4 years’ experience in implementation of projects as a Project Manager, Good command on computer application, Report writing Skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation of project activities in line with established goals, objectives, and partnership agreements;
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships critical to the successful implementation of all activities;
  • Oversee and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for both internal and external project stakeholder, including responsibility for the development, editing and timely submission of progress reports, case studies, assessment studies as required, 
  • Support efforts to represent the project in internal and external events and meetings, disseminate information about BDRP-CBDRM projects, findings, and subject matter expertise with all visibility requirements;
  •  Preparation of detailed implementation plan in consultation with relevant staff and senior management.
  • Properly orient the project team about overall objectives and activities of the project.
  • Review team work plans and ensure adherence of project outcomes as per the requirements of VDO policies and procedures.
  • Provide field level guidance and facilitation to the team members. Take all necessary steps for smooth & successful implementation of the Project.
  • Conduct Risk assessment and mapping of the target areas.
  • Formation and training of UC / Village level Disaster Management Committees (U/VDMCs) in the targeted villages/UCs.
  • Formation and training of the targeted village/UC level Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) in targeted areas.
  • Ensure that target communities have effective disaster risk management structures in placed in the selected union councils of DI Khan.
  • Ensure target communities and households are prepared to (a) cope with climate related natural disasters and (b) adopt risk reduction measures in the selected union council of DI Khan district.
  • Introduced to sustainable livelihoods and environmental management practices for resilience building
  • Ensure that all activities being carried out are as per budget with prior approval from line manager.
  • Ensure all expenditures are in line with the approved budget and prepare and get timely approvals where any alterations are required in approved budget.
  • Arrange events / activities for the capacity building of project staff.
  • Formation and training of the targeted villages/UC level School Teachers Committees (STCs) in the targeted areas.
  • Ensure Participatory Risk Analysis (PRA) & developing of Village/UC level Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Plans of the targeted villages/UC.
  • Selection of appropriate sites and development of design for the infrastructure component of the project.
  • Establishing of early warning system & evacuation plan and linkages between DMCs and line departments.
  • Prepare inputs and regular updates to detail work plans, action plans, calendar of events, M&E framework and action plans, risk, issue and lessons learned logs in consultation with the implementing partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct district level advocacy seminars & workshops as specified in the project document.
  • Ensure timely development and submission of project reports (programmatic and financial) and will maintain records at project office level.
  • Regularly monitor the project activities to ensure desired quality standards are met.
  • Conduct regular project review meeting with staff.
  • Deal with the issues/matter discussed with team during reviews and seek guidance from the senior management where necessary.
  • Ensure Project Coordination, Networking & Visibility at District Level which includes coordination with district government and concerned line departments.
  • Participate in meetings of concerned networks, forums and clusters at district level to represent the project and VDO.
  • Share information with community / beneficiaries regarding complaint handling mechanism and give them proper guidance about the ways / means of sending complaints to the organization.
  • Ensure smooth implementation of organizational policies and Code of Conducts in respective project activities.
  • Oversee organizational assets and ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and suggest reward to staff members who perform more than expectations and improve the performance of staff through coaching.
  • Any other task as assigned by the management.

WASH Officer: (Female)

Qualification and Experience:

Master Degree in any discipline from recognized University, 3-4 years’ experience in WASH related Project, have knowledge of sphere standards, BCC approach and community mobilization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of Project Manager (PM) responsible for the management and implementation of all soft activities related to WASH and health & hygiene (HH).

  • Assist PM in identifying the potential target areas for the implementation of WASH activities within the given guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to social aspects of implementation of the project interventions.
  • Be responsible for the quality control of the activities in the field.
  • Train communities, local teachers and larger network in WASH and continue follow up.
  • Contribute to design follow up/monitoring procedure so that the project has an evidence that recommended WASH practices are being implemented and adopted by the communities.
  • Coordinate with M&E to ensure reporting of progress details on regular basis.
  • Provide support to Staff for conducting surveys in field regarding WASH, health and hygiene practices.
  • Provide support to health & Hygiene Promoters in Conducting health and hygiene sessions in targeted community.
  • Organizing beneficiaries for H&H Session in community.
  • Develop and distribution IEC material regarding H&H in community.
  • Developing work plan for conducting HH sessions and share with PM.
  • Proper documentation of all sessions/activities conducted in field.
  • Conduct TOT in community of literate people who will further disseminate H&H message at mass level in area.
  • Transect walk in targeted HHs to observe hygienic conduct after sessions.              
  • Any other task assigned.
