Purpose of the Position:

A speech and language therapist will assess and treat children with specific speech, language and communication problems to enable them to communicate to the best of their ability. He/she work with children with a variety of delays and disorders spanning from mild articulation delays to more complex disorders such as autism, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, motor speech disorders, and other developmental delays

Main Responsibilities of the Position:

  1. Implement specialized therapy treatment, techniques and instruction in accordance with individualized education programs (IEPs) of student being served.
  2. To work with children one-on-one or in groups to treat voice disorders, stuttering problems or learning disabilities.
  3. He/she work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children.
  4. Teaching students with hearing or speech conditions to use sign language.
  5. Screen, evaluate, and write reports on student’s levels, strengths, needs and progress using approved testing and assessment instruments.
  6. Provide consultative services to parents in the therapy program of their child.
  7. Compile, maintain and file all required student documentation and reports in compliance with deadlines and school administrative policies and procedures.
  8. To assist students using audio-visual aids, physical strengthening exercises, instructive or repetitive practice, and other means
  9. Maintain up to-date knowledge of research, theories, and practices associated with school-based therapy.
  10. Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and implement classroom-based activities and instructional techniques to ensure carry-over of learning.
  11. Participated in individualized Education Program (IEP) and multi-disciplinary team meetings to evaluate student needs/progress and to develop and /or revised individualized therapy interventions, objectives and goal.
  12. Conducting school-wide hearing tests to identify and diagnose auditory problems among young children and promote early intervention.
  13. Teaming with Special Education Teachers to create comprehensive treatment plans for special needs children.
  14. Collaborating with teachers, administrators and parents to implement speech therapy programs.
  15. As & when need arises additional/supplementary task (s)/assignment (s) may also be performed by the Speech Therapist in line with Organization’s general Policy.

 Job Specification:

Qualification & Experience:

  • Minimum Masters’ degree Speech Therapist addition qualification would be given preference.
  • Minimum 2 year’s professional experience.

Knowledge:

  • Ability to influence and engage with a wide range of stakeholder group
  • Knowledge & understanding of Social sector approaches, interventions & community based practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of related intervention, practices, policies, laws, approaches.
  • Knowledge & understanding of emotional regulation

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent Communication & Listening skills
  • Excellent Human Resource Management skills
  • Analytical skills & ability to link micro issues with the macro problems/sinario
  • Excellent computer knowledge specially on MS Office
  • Ability of multitasking, initiatives & handing pressure.
