Purpose of the post

 

The Deputy Head of Sub Delegation assists and supports the Head of Sub Delegation in managing the ICRC Sub Delegation (approximately 140 staff) and implementing ICRC objectives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and has responsibility for programmes such as Health, Physical Rehabilitation, Cooperation with Pakistan Red Crescent Society and Communication.

 

Requirements:

 

  1. University degree or equivalent

  2. At least 6-8 years of overall professional experience

  3. Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  4. Capacity to carry out complex activities

  5. Fluent in written and spoken English, Urdu and Pashto

  6. Excellent analytical skills

  7. Very good communication skills

  8. Autonomous

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operates under the supervision of the Head of Sub Delegation.

  • Contributes to analysing the humanitarian, political and security environment in order to identify humanitarian needs in the area of responsibility, and to defining the sub delegation's operational strategies and objectives.

  • Is in charge of implementing and monitoring operational issues, programmes and activities under his/her responsibility, in coordination with the respective heads of departments.

  • Contributes to representing the ICRC, interacting with a number of external stakeholders (e.g. humanitarian actors, Government authorities, representatives of the security sector).

  • Contributes to defining and implementing the Sub Delegation's security rules, in line with the overall security framework established by the delegation.

  • Ensures timely and accurate internal reporting.

  • Manages staff from the departments under supervision.

  • Acts as Head of Sub delegation during the latter's absence.

  • Maintains contacts with relevant ICRC staff of the ICRC Delegation in Islamabad

  • Assumes responsibility for important or complex files, projects, programs

  • Represents ICRC in multilateral and bilateral meetings.
