2.0    BACKGROUND AND POSITION OBJECTIVES

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The Research Assistant is responsible for collecting data, conducting data cleaning, data analysis, carrying out research and producing various evidence based research outputs including journal articles, policy briefs and advocacy material in the field of education. This will involve substantial work with data sets produced by other organizations.

3.0    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND TASKS

3.1    Core Responsibilities & Duties                        

  1. Carry out data collection, compilation and cleaning exercises
  2. Carry out report writing assignments related to Socio Economic aspects and data analysis
  3. Write quarterly progress reports
  4. Carry out field work such as based on survey questionnaires and focus group discussions
  5. Organizing seminars, conferences and trainings wherever required
  6. Liaison and coordination with relevant stakeholders, development partners and government, counterparts
  7. Publish at least one paper in peer reviewed journal every one year (either individually or in collaboration with the team)
  8. Publish at least one policy brief in SDPI policy brief series every quarter
  9. Any other work assigned by Supervisor or Executive Director

Education

 

Masters in Social Sciences or relevant requirement by various units

Total Work Experience (In Yrs)

2 years post qualification Experience preferably in development sector

Sector Experience (In Yrs)

 

2-3  years

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong ability to use statistical software and worksheets (SPSS, Excel)
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work and deliver with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender principles
