Tetra Tech ES, Inc., a subsidiary of Tetra Tech (USA) dedicated to international development, is recruiting for a Pakistan-based professional for the position below to support a multi-year (2017-2021) USAID-funded sustainable energy project in Pakistan. Position based in Islamabad, with travel to project sites as required.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Research Specialist will be a resource for the entire project team and will conduct research on multiple topics related to the project, specifically related to the energy sector to inform project activity development and implementation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Research, collect, review and analyze information and reports from government agencies, donor organizations, non-governmental organizations, private sector, media and other relevant sources
- Conduct research and gather data on a variety of technical topics, include renewable energy, energy regulations and policy, renewable energy finance, utility industry trends, grid integration
- Provide summaries of findings from literature reviews as an input to analytical studies and assessments
- Analyze quantitative data to identify relevant trends and patterns develop tables and graphs for reports
- Support the drafting of a variety of written outputs, including background and working papers, technical reports and studies, briefings and presentations by either writing drafts, compiling inputs and/or reviewing drafts of others based on their relevance and quality
QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, environment or engineering, or related.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 1 to 3 years of professional experience conducting research and drafting reports required
- Knowledge of the energy or environment sector required
- Previous experience working in international development for USAID, other donor or a university preferred
SKILLS:
- Strong inter-personal skills; asks questions to clarify tasks and keeps all informed of progress
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task
- Experience with internet based research including using Boolean Search
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
LANGUAGES:
Native or bilingual proficiency (written and spoken) in both English and Urdu.
