Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the planning, monitoring and management of program activities under Girls’ Education project and Component II (i.e. Advocacy) of the Capacity Enhancement Project.
  • Supervise and lead the team members in achieving results of the project.
  • Design/plan advocacy and lobbying related activities for local & national level organizations.
  • Ensure strong documentation and timely reporting of program. Review training reports, lessons learnt documentation and other program related documentation when required.
  • Supervise team members in managing program data in both soft and hard copies in a timely manner.
  • Building strong and long-term relationship through networking and promotion of project activities with relevant stakeholders (CSOs, Universities, Local & Global humanitarian network bodies etc.).
  • Increase visibility of the program activities at local, national & regional level.
  • Mobilization and selection of participating organizations for training.
  • Managing Trainers and Resource Persons (internal/external).
  • Ensuring the quality outputs/results of the project as per implementation timeline.
  • Planning and management of training follow-up/refreshers through Trainers.
  • Close coordination and follow up with project participants & stakeholders; other projects and departments within the organization.
  • Ensuring quality of training pre-during-post tasks (needs assessment, invitation package, reports etc.)
  • Ensuring effective budget utilization of responsible activities.
  • Following M&E system and procedure.
  • Consider the costs of planned program vs. available budgets to ensure value for money.
  • Develop and conduct Technical Assistance and follow-up activities with selected participants.
  • Ability to travel on short-notice. The frequency of travel is high for this position.

 Job specifications:

Qualification and Experience:

  • For the position of Senior Program Officer – Education & Advocacy University level Master degree in Education/ social sciences (International Relation, Political Science, Development Studies etc.) with practical aptitude
  • A minimum of 7 years work experience in humanitarian sector, at least half of which should have been related to education and advocacy.

Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of management theories and concepts.
  • Experienced in managing capacity building interventions for organizations on Social Mobilization, Advocacy, Theatre Skills, Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction.
  • Ability to link and engage national organizations to global/regional debates.
  • Experience in partnership management.
  • Excellent Writing skills (English), pro-active in communication & information sharing.
  • Understanding about capacity building approaches and experience in fund raising for Capacity Building Programs.
  • Facilitation skills as facilitator in the field of education at primary and secondary level.
  • Ability to develop training material like training session plans and modules.

  • Excellent command of English & Urdu – verbal and written.

IT:

  • Computer Skills (use of Microsoft Office specifically Excel for budgeting/planning & Power point for presentations). Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and able to well present & analyze information.

  • The Senior Program Officer – Education & Advocacy must be tolerant and sensitive to needs of religious and ethnic minorities, women, children and the poor.

  • In the absence of the supervisors, the Senior Program Officer – Education & Advocacy must have the confidence, initiative, patience and integrity to work independently.
