Job Summary

The purpose of this role is twofold:

1.         To undertake technical inspections, analyse data and report on the construction of schools constructed to meet the objectives of the TPCI project.

2.         To complete and submit good quality assessment reports in the format developed by the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader and in accordance with a defined schedule.

About you

>         Postgraduate qualifications in civil engineering or similar.

>         Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in an engineering consulting or similar position.

>         Experience undertaking technical construction inspections.

>         Experience in data collection, collation and analysis.

>         Report writing capabilities.

>         Experience designing, managing construction or inspecting school facilities.

>         Experience working on donor-funded projects an advantage.

>         Strong written and spoken English.

>         Ability to work in a team environment and remotely as required.

About the role

>         Work in close collaboration with the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader to efficiently and effectively implement the project.

>         Support the pre-inspection assessment and reporting of school data including statement of requirements, contract, drawings, specification, BoQ and other inspection reports and brief the field inspectors as required.

>         Support the development and implementation of annual work plans.

>         Quality assure data collected and analysed by field inspectors.

>         Support and contribute to project reporting.

>         Use tools and sampling methodology specified by the Team Leader.

>         Regularly interface with the Deputy Team Leader to ensure that the project is well supported, risks are managed and/or mitigated, and implementation is efficient.

>         Escalate concerns regarding risks to Cardno representatives, where appropriate.

>         Comply with Cardno’s policies and procedures for fraud, anti-corruption, child protection, health, safety and environment.

>         Other tasks related to the effective implementation of the project as necessary as they arise.

About the program

The contract for Third Party Construction Inspection will run from January 2018 to May 2020. The project will conduct construction inspections on a monthly basis. Inspections will cover a geographically representative sample of 120 schools per quarter in the two provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spread across all the districts where work is ongoing. IMC is the implementing contractor for the School Rehabilitation and Construction Programme. Cardno will review the quality and pace of construction and the quality assurance processes put in place by IMC and how effectively these processes are followed in the field as well as the impact these have on the quality and pace of construction. Cardno will identify any gaps in the processes or their implementation and suggest improvements to IMC and DFID Pakistan to improve the quality and pace of construction.

Remuneration

GDP 700-900 dependent on experience.
