JOB SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of Senior Health and Nutrition Advisor, oversee the implementation of Organization CMAM Surge project in Umerkot, Sindh. Provide strategic input and capacity building support to NGO partners on CMAM Surge approach and programming. Responsible to set up, implement and coordinate Organization’s CMAM Surge approach and response with relevant stakeholders, along with representing Organization on various forums and networks at the district level

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work towards effective, timely and quality implementation of CMAM Surge according to developed plan
  2. Regular visit to project sites and liaison with district authorities, IP and communities
  3. Initiate / strengthen coordination with Health Department, Nutrition Cell, UNCIEF / WFP at district levels and ensure that relevant line department staffs are aware of and approve the intervention
  4. Participate in Cluster / working group meetings at district level and liaise with District Health Officer, District Nutrition Focal Person, UN agencies and other stakeholders working in the field of nutrition
  5. Assist the management for effective and efficient management of the partners in line with the project proposal, financial management, time-frame, donor regulations and implement organizational procedures, systems and guidelines
  6. Assist in capacity building of NGO partners on CMAM, CMAM Surge, IYCF and other nutrition interventions  
  7. Liaise with the Senior Health and Nutrition Advisor based in Islamabad regularly for technical assistance and support  to ensure that CMAM Surge project is in line with Organization nutrition guidelines and implementation strategy
  8. Support in designing and implementing technical nutritional surveys in coordination with other departments/locations
  9. Support and cooperate with other sectors especially WASH and FSL for issues related to health and nutrition
  10. Estimate, request and follow-up delivery of material needs for programme from appropriate sources (e.g. RUTF, nutrition equipment, other supplies)
  11. Regular review and use of project data to formulate recommendations for better programme implementation as needed, to better serve the target beneficiaries
  12. Prepare monthly and other periodic reports for Organization, government and other stakeholders as required
  13. Promote and ensure compliance with the requirements of Organization's Programme Participants Protection Policy to ensure maximum protection to programme beneficiaries
  14. Ensure optimal use of financial, human and material resources within Organization work; in a transparent and accountable manner consistent with Organization’s systems and procedures delivering quality results and demonstrating value for money
  15. Any other task assigned by the supervisor

Education:

         Minimum sixteen years of education preferably in the field of medicine, nutrition, public health, sociology, administration / management, community development or other related fields   

Skills/Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor in Medicine, Nutrition, Sociology, Community development or relevant field including first-hand experience of implementing CMAM programme
  • Minimum 3 year experience working in nutrition and/or public health, particularly around CMAM Surge / CMAM / Infant and Young Child Feeding interventions
  • Experience in capacity building and mentoring of staff and community actors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu. Knowledge of Sindhi will be an asset
  • Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, internet, etc.)

Desired:

  • Experience in community mobilisation / behavioural change strategies
  • Experience in developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks for health and nutrition programmes
  • Experience working with local government departments and local partners
  • Experience in nutrition surveys, including data analysis
  • Good interpersonal communication, writing and presentation skills

Accountability: Accountable as per above mentioned responsibilities and also that systems are not bypassed.

Authority: As per authorization and delegation framework, procedural manual and SOPs.

Special Circumstances: Organization, like other INGOs working in Organization, sometimes has to operate in risky environments/areas. Organization has a SMP for all possible risks. As part of essential staff responsibilities, the position will be required to work in emergency situations.

Any candidate offered a job with Organization will be expected to sign the Programme Participant Protection Policy and the Organization Code of Conduct as an appendix to their contract of employment. By signing the Programme Participant Protection Policy and the Organization Code of Conduct candidates demonstrate they have understood their content and agree to conduct themselves in accordance with the provisions of these two documents.

Any breach of the Organization Code of Conduct or the Programme Participant Protection Policy by employees of Organization during the course of their employment will result in disciplinary action up to, and including, dismissal.
