Project Description:

The U.S.-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development (AMD) is a USAID funded project that aims to improve the ability of Pakistan’s commercial agriculture and livestock sectors to compete in international and national markets in four targeted product lines: meat, high value and off-season vegetables, mangoes and citrus. AMD will act as a catalyst for development and investment in its targeted product lines by actively promoting cooperation and coordination amongst the value chain actors and ancillary service providers. AMD’s implementation strategy is underpinned by a strictly commercial and market-driven approach with a clear focus on strengthening market access for its partner organizations and supporting international marketing and sales efforts.

 

AMD encourages investments in its four target product lines through offering matching grants and technical assistance, and empowering stakeholders by developing synergies, upgrading and streamlining supply chains, providing technical assistance to optimize profit margins, and increase participation of women entrepreneurs, thereby helping make Pakistani meat, high value and off-season vegetables, mangoes and citrus more profitable and competitive.

 

Assignment Scope:

The key purpose of this position is to support program communications needs. The communications specialist is required to support AMD project activities and record their outcomes, especially providing support in producing and editing reports, press releases, proposals and marketing material, ensuring the content is concise, consistent and both grammatically and factually correct.

 

  • Support project Communications strategy and activities related to project outreach;
  • Support production of all reports, proposals, marketing materials, and other documents generated from the project office with particular emphasis on those for submission to USAID;
  • Regularly compile success stories in coordination with program team;
  • Prepare documentaries/training video modules, press releases, talking points, event briefers, project fact sheets and presentations, as required;
  • Maintain a repository and track of all the communication material while regularly updating it;
  • Support program team in branding, outreach and marketing activities;
  • Handle event management related tasks for project events including site visits, venue finalization, and branding;
  • Coordinate with event management companies, documentary production houses, media and public relations firms and other vendors, as required;
  • Effectively liaise with the donor; and
  • Any other duties assigned by CTA or COP.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business management, journalism, mass communications, publishing or similar area required; Master’s Degree preferred;
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience while working in the similar positions; experience working with USAID or other donors is an added advantage; 
  • Sound knowledge of USAID branding and communication policies;
  • Demonstrated skill in program communication, development of information and Communication material;
  • Ability to produce analytical and well-presented reports and publications;
  • A proven ability to effectively manage relationships with media representatives, government officials, community groups and consortium partners;
  • Team player, problem solver with the ability to work under deadline pressures;
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in English required;
  • Professional level proficiency in computer literacy.
