Job Title: Communications & Media Specialist

Reports to:Lead Evidence Manager

Introduction to DAI – AJPP Project:

DAI has been awarded the Accountable Justice in Pakistan Programme (AJPP). The four-year, £12 million, DFID-funded project will improve application of the rule of law by equipping Pakistani men, women, and children with the knowledge and capacity to hold key law enforcement and justice sector institutions to account.

AJPP will enhance the rule of law by 1) increasing the accountability and oversight of law enforcement and justice institutions, and 2) increasing engagement by citizens in legal reforms and legal empowerment, leading to a better informed citizenry. Working in three target provinces, AJPP will prioritize the engagement of women, girls, minority communities, and the poor in justice sector accountability reforms.

 

Scope of Work:

To manage AJPP’scommunications activities, including liaising with media, drafting press releases, public advocacy and lobbying activities, writing articles/ success stories/stories of change, liaising with other media channels and ensuring the quality of AJPP’s oral and written communications.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist AJPP management in the drafting of a communications/advocacy strategy;
  • Assist programme leadership in drafting and finalization of communication materials for DAI/AJPP and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Develop promotional materials such as reports, newsletters, sector profiles, success stories, scripts, articles and letters to editorsin international/national media;
  • Assist Lead Evidence Manager inthe production of internal and external communications, publications and materials, and assist in subediting and proof reading communications products including success stories, photographs, video and social media posts;
  • Act as a custodian of all communication products, pictures, reports and data;
  • Maintain an organized and easily accessible database of communication data;
  • Develop and maintain a well-organized and easily accessible database of pictures, photographyof events and stories in the field;
  • Maintain well organized picture data slips and media coverage;
  • Ensure timely dissemination and robust archival of all relevant media and data;
  • Assist programme team in development and rollout of project campaign.

 

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • Over 5 years’ experience of undertaking communications activities;
  • Excellent knowledge of the communications and media sector in Pakistan;
  • Prevous experience of working ondonor-funded projects in Pakistan (preferably DFID/BHC);
  • Very good understanding of social media;
  • Capacity to work with short deadlines and under pressure;
  • Capability to produce high quality oral and written material.
