Duties & Responsibilities

  • In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the procurement of livestock from existing suppliers, prepare delivery schedules to the abattoir, purchase reports, identify new livestock suppliers and cultivate relationships with current suppliers and key industry contacts. This is a “hands on role” with livestock suppliers, the candidate should have a strong agricultural background and knowledge of meat farming is considered essential.
  • Manager AST will be the primary point of contact for all livestock producers supply at the Plant Site. Moreover, the candidate will be required to work in close coordination with the Marketing and Supply Chain teams to understand their needs, identify changes and cultivate relationships with current livestock suppliers – whilst promoting FML brand to help secure new livestock producers.
  • The candidate should have proven experience and knowledge of Pakistani livestock farming. Ideally applicants should have a combination of commercial and excellent practical experience of livestock production. It will be an advantage if the applicants have livestock procurement or carcasses classification experience.
  • Responsibility also includes oversight of the actual daily buy in the selected FML regions, and the oversight of all daily sale cattle business.
  • The AST Manager will be responsible to interact with the cattle buyers, feeders, corporate competitors and other relevant business units in order to maximize revenue. This position will require a certain amount of time networking with key suppliers and industry officials of the cattle industry and markets. 
  • Contribute to the research and evaluation of existing and potential cattle marketing opportunities in the international markets based on demand for products, pricing, and customer needs.
  • Provide direction, guidance and motivation for the Animal Sourcing team
  • Increase the supply of stock purchased directly from farmers
  • Maintain and improve the quality of livestock
  • Actively promotes working relationships with suppliers, production management and departmental heads
  • Ensure requirements and standards are met

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelors or equivalent qualification in Finance, Business, Agriculture, or related field.
  • The educational qualification must be from a recognized institution local or international.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience trading in commodity markets; preferably cattle related.
  • Excellent communication skills in Urdu and Punjabi
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Pakistani livestock industry
  • A strong work ethic
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Team player
  • Ideally, but not essentially, educated to degree level in a relevant subject
  • Able to form on-going business relationships with the livestock farmers
