Social Mobilizer - Male

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Social Mobilizer  will organize volunteers at the grass root level to ensure active participation of majority of the villagers in all project/ programmes Activities led by WVP. She/he will be responsible to co-ordinate with internal (Area Manager, tehsil coordinator & Project manager) and External (CO/CBOs, CCBs, NGOs, Elected Representatives & Government Departments) stakeholders. He/She will be providing necessary technical and training assistance to the community structures on Nutrition and project stakeholders under the guidance of the Tehsil Coordinator for ENRICH Project. She/he will deliver interactive activities, effective use of low/no cost methodology to deliver WV nutrition related approached at community level.

Major Activities

• To represent & introduce WVP into communities, its goals and objectives in the development activities to ensure confidence building and smooth entry within communities
• Committee Based organization Meetings (CBO) at the grass root (village) level.
• Community Volunteers and  Volunteer Database management .
• Supervise, monitor and mentor nutrition activities (PD Hearth) to ensure that quality services are delivered.
• Chair the meetings of CBO’s at village/UC level and keep all record.
• Work closely with Community Volunteers and build the capacity in social mobilization to encourage community participation in nutrition activities.
• Play effective role for identification and enrollment of malnourished Children & PLW in community
• Responsible to assist in organizing community meetings and forming different committees and groups for project interventions under supervision of Tehsil coordinator.
• Play effective role to conduct  community meetings for the awareness on PD Hearth/ ttC, health and hygiene, MNCH issues
• Monitor, look after and make improvement plans for community structure plan of actions.
• Assist to coordinate meetings and making sustainable action plans with the community members including direct beneficiaries i.e. Children/PLW attending centers and other stakeholders.
• Document and submit timely Value Based monitoring report on monthly basis.
• Understand and incorporate gender mainstreaming into all sectors of work.
• Liaise & co-ordinate with all stakeholders at UC/Village level.
• Document and submit reports as required in a timely manner to concerned bodies.
• Organize volunteer acknowledgement ceremonies at the UC/Village level.
• Any task assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills  and Experience

• M.A/M.Sc in Social Sciences preferably in Social Work, Sociology, Gender Studies, Anthropology & Rural Development. Command on PRA Tools and social mobilization processes.
• 3-4 experience in emergency relief/participatory development in NGOs, INGOs & Government Agency on mobilization positions.
• Strong skills in communication, negotiation, mediation and coordination both oral & written.
• Knowledge about the local culture.
• Good communication skills both in local language (Sindhi) as well as in English.
• Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
• Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful  environment and physical hardship with limited conditions
• Capacity to work under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent Reporting and computer skills (MS Office and Internet)
• Clear and understandable communication prevails within team and with communities both verbal and written.
