    MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS:

     

  1. Assessment, planning, design, implementation and quality assurance

  • Contribute in planning and developing ORGANISATION’s long-term GBV strategy in Pakistan
  • Based on needs and opportunities, assist in planning, and designing of new programme initiatives.
  • Assist in implementation of ORGANISATION’s GBV programme i.e. projects on women’s leadership, gender based violence, engaging men and boys and promoting gender justice for minority women in Pakistan in accordance with approved plans and budgets
  • Closely work with other team members on prevention, response and advocacy components of the GBV programme
  • Provide technical inputs to different stages of program/project cycle of the overall GBV programme: start-up work plans, detailed project implementation plans, baseline assessment reports, annual work plans, progress reports, midterm review, etc
  • Ensure compliance to planned programme interventions with ORGANISATION’s global GBV strategy, country specific strategy, Government’s National Policy on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, IASC GBV guidelines and other relevant international commitments
  • Promote innovative gender empowerment approaches in programming and adapt value added and cost effective solutions for targeted beneficiaries
  • Assist in initiating partners contracts, establishing new Project IDs (PIDs), allocations of funds and overseeing financial utilization against planned project activities
  • Assist in integrating right based approach in Gender programming with focus on downward accountability
  • Give technical inputs to ORGANISATION’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Peace-building programmes on gender mainstreaming when needed

 

  1. Coordination with partners and monitoring

  • Responsible for regular follow up with partners on overall GBV programme

  • Work closely with the other ORGANISATION GBV programme team members to implement (and if needed, improve) monitoring procedures to ensure quality control related to programme activities carried out by partners in collaboration with communities

  • Conduct regular field visits to analyze progress, share observations with partners and recommend steps for improvement

  • Prepare and submit regular and timely monitoring reports with findings and recommendations

  • Monitor utilization of budget and ensure steering of the project in coordination with the PC
  • Conduct regular meetings with partners to provide feedback and improve programming quality

 

  1. Project Development and Reporting Assistance

  • Assist in developing proposals and budgets as well writing quality reports, and updates on project progress for submission to donors

  • Review project proposals, periodic narrative and financial reports of partners and give feedback
  • Contribute to preparation of ORGANISATION’s annual plans, annual reports, partner reports and other reports required by management and HO
  • Identify new funding opportunities based on partners’ capacity and geographic presence
  • Monitor project progress and advise on suitable deviations and subsequent revisions required in the proposals and agreements

 

  1. Capacity Development

  • Assist to assess partners’ staff (Gender Team) capacity on a regular basis and suggest and deliver capacity building initiatives

  • Collaborate with the GBV programme team for a ORGANISATION-wide gender audit when needed

  • Use partnership assessment tools to identify core partners’ in need of partnership capacity building support or assessment of new potential partners in various geographical areas for new partnerships

  • Build partners capacity on programme themes, international quality standards and ORGANISATIONs routines and guidelines

 

  1. Networking, and cooperation

  • Ensure implementing partners are coordinating with concerned Government authorities to avoid overlapping of ORGANISATION supported interventions
  • Represent ORGANISATION at EVAWG and MenEngage alliance events, Government meetings and other relevant forums
  • Maintain and further develop contacts with ORGANISATION partners, NGOs/other actors in civil society, Government and relevant international organizations/donors

 

  1. Other tasks

  • The position holder may be asked to perform any other tasks by the GBV Programme Coordinator, Program Manager/Deputy Country Representative, and the Country Representative
  • The terms of reference may be revised in consultation with the position holder on need basis

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 

Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension

Education: At least Advanced University degree (Masters)  in Gender and Development, Gender, Violence and Conflict, Women's and Gender Studies, Gender and International Relations, Masculinities Studies, Gender, Media and Culture, or other related disciplines. Applications with relevant work experience (especially related to masculinities) may substitute for higher degree qualification.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 4 - 5 years of professional experience in gender empowerment and/other related areas at the international/national level in similar context is required. The following candidates who have significant experience with women’s leadership initiatives, engaging men and boys for gender justice, gender sensitive reporting and working with religious leaders for gender empowerment will be given preference. 

Duty Station:                           Islamabad, Pakistan with travel to the field (40%)
